Movies are supposed to be fun, right? The danger that some movies are filled with is often meant to be exciting, horrifying, and sometimes so intense that it feels as though someone might die, but if they do, it will always be off-screen or so quick that people won’t see it. That’s the way the Jurassic Park movies have been created since the start, and for the most part, people have been fine with it. The gore and the violence that would have normally come from a franchise like this were kept at the bare minimum since the Jurassic Park and World movies were meant to cater to families, and therefore they couldn’t deliver a great deal of blood and guts. But the implication was there since, like it or not, these creatures know how to do little else but attack when threatened or hungry, which means that there would be a great deal of ripping and tearing flesh that would be needed for any given scene. If Jurassic Park were ever to receive an R-rating, it would be a bit different to be certain, but whether it would be better is hard to say.
The movies might be less apt to use kids if they were R-rated.
This may or may not be true since kids aren’t exactly exempt from horror movies and the effects that drive them. But if common sense were to be exercised in these movies finally, then it’s very likely that we would see fewer children being offered up as fodder for movies such as these. The fact is that taking anyone that’s too young to defend themselves from this type of danger into a situation where they have to learn how to survive is one of the worst decisions possible, but that’s one of the reasons why people love the movies, they love watching people make bad decisions. Bringing kids to a land where monsters roam is one of the worst decisions possible, so it’s a popular idea. But to be fair, if kids started being ripped apart by dinosaurs, it’s a sure bet that someone might have an issue with it.
There would be a change of directors to make this possible.
Without trying to insult anyone, there are certain directors who are better at filming violent movies, and if Jurassic Park was to take on a more adult theme, then it would be wise to find someone who could direct the type of movie in which violence was mandatory, not just expected. There are quite a few adequate to great directors out there who can perform this kind of task and create a movie that would blow a person’s hair back, but some of the best would be able to take the various dinosaurs and turn them into unstoppable killing machines with a lust for blood and an appetite for destruction. It’s easy to think that some people would rail against this since dinosaurs and their habits aren’t at all what they’re perceived to be in the movies, so far as we know, but the visuals and the effects would be amazing to say the least.
The movies are designed for violence, after all
That’s tough to deny really since prehistoric monsters that are designed to be deadly aren’t bound to be cute and cuddly. These are dangerous animals that are meant to rip people to shreds if they feel the inclination. Doing so off-screen has been used to spare the audience’s sensibilities and maintain the rating that the movies have been given. But imagining what would happen if the audience was allowed to see the bodies being dismembered and torn apart would be interesting to be certain. There are most definitely fans who would love to see the Jurassic Park franchise go dark and let the screen get doused in blood and guts, but there appear to be a lot more people who would no doubt like to see things stay the same and spare themselves and others the need to see anything too violent. Turning this franchise into a bloodfest would be an interesting move, but it does feel as though it would come with a great number of issues that would need to be sorted out.
It’s not likely to happen.
This would take a lot of convincing since the truth is that too many people have grown used to the way things are, and changing it around would require the beginning of a new franchise. That might be possible, but it would also be a huge undertaking. Trying to overhaul the Jurassic Park franchise in this manner would be extremely difficult, but it would also be kind of interesting to see. Imagine dinosaurs being able to tear people to shreds in full view of the camera. That’s creepy, but it would still be worth seeing what kind of reaction it would bring.
