American actress and model Leslie Bibb has had as much success on TV shows as she has with movies. Bibb, who started as a model, began her professional career in 1991. However, it wasn’t until 1996 that she made her acting debut in an episode (“Wheels of Fire”) in the second season of the USA Network’s crime drama Pacific Blue.
Although she made her film debut the following year, in 1997, it was on television that she first landed her first major role. Since then, Leslie Bibb has been cast in both leading and supporting roles in film and television. With a growing number of credits on television, here’s Leslie Bibb’s career journey on the small screen.
Popular
The WB comedy-drama Popular was Leslie Bibb’s first lead role on television. Two years earlier, Bibb joined the cast of USA Network’s crime drama The Big Easy in season 2. However, her lead role as Brooke McQueen in Popular made the actress popular (pun intended). On the show, 24-year-old Leslie Bibb played a High School student alongside actress Carly Pope, who played Sam McPherson. Both of their characters were students at Jacqueline Kennedy High School, whose parent’s engagement forces them to live in the same house.
Socially polar at school, Brooke was a popular cheerleader, while Sam was a reporter for the school’s newspaper. In Popular season 1, Brooke and Sam find ways to keep their parents apart from getting married. In season 2, realizing how miserable their parents looked without each other, they work together to bring them back. Popular was canceled after the second season. Popular received seven Teen Choice Awards nominations and won the TV – Choice Breakout Show category. The show originally aired from September 29, 1999, to May 18, 2001.
ER
The next year, Leslie Bibb joined the cast of the NBC medical drama ER. She was introduced in season 9 as a recurring character, Erin Harkins. Bibb’s character was introduced as a medical student and appeared on the show from 2002 to 2003. Bibb’s first appearance on the show was in episode 2 (“Dead Again”) and was on her emergency room rotation. In episode 10 (“Hindsight”), Bibb’s Erin Harkins was injured in a car accident that was caused by Dr. Luka Kovač (Goran Visnjic).
Initially, Bibb’s character was supposed to have been killed off by the accident, but writer and producer David Zabel chose otherwise. Leslie Bibb’s last appearance in ER was in episode 13 (“No Good Deed Goes Unpunished”). Erin Harkins had completed her emergency room rotation and was to begin her next rotation in Pediatrics. Leslie Bibb joins the list of famous stars who appeared in ER.
Line of Fire
In 2003, Leslie Bibb led the cast of ABC’s crime drama series Line to Fire. Bibb was cast as a rookie FBI agent, Paige Van Doren, alongside Jeffrey D. Sams, who played Todd Stevens. Line of Fire premiered on December 2, 2003, and aired only 11 episodes (with 2 unaired episodes) before the network canceled it. Line of Fire’s last aired episode was on May 30, 2004.
Crossing Jordan
Leslie Bibb joined the cast of NBC’s crime drama Crossing Jordan in 2005. Crossing Jordan was already in its fifth season by the time she was cast in the series. Bibb was cast as Det. Tallulah “Lu” Simmons, joining the series’ Boston Police Department as a psychologist and homicide detective. Part of the character’s story arc was being romantically involved with Woodrow “Woody” Hoyt (Jerry O’Connell). Leslie Bibb remained on the show until it was canceled after the sixth season in 2007.
The League
Leslie Bibb was cast in a recurring role on the FX/FXX sitcom The League. Although the show lasted for 7 seasons, from 2009 to 2015, Bibb only appeared on the show in 2009, 2010, and 2015. Cast as Meegan Eckhart, Bibb played actor Mark Duplass’ (Peter “Pete” Eckhart) ex-wife. The couple separated in The League’s pilot episode. Leslie Bibb returned in the final season to reprise her role, with her character now romantically involved with Dr. Andre Nowzick (Paul Scheer). In the end, Meegan and Andre are happily married.
American Housewife
After a 5-season run, American Housewife was also canceled after airing 103 episodes. Most TV shows Leslie Bibb was cast in the 2010s were canceled or pulled off the air. Although she had recurring roles in most of them, she led the cast on ABC’s GCB (Good Christian Bitches or Good Christian Belles). In American Housewife, an ABC sitcom, Bibb played Liv, Katie Otto’s (Katy Mixon) neighbor. American Housewife originally aired from October 11, 2016, to March 31, 2021.
Jupiter’s Legacy
Leslie Bibb starred in her first superhero series on Netflix’s Jupiter’s Legacy. Cast as Grace Kennedy-Sampson/Lady Liberty, Bibb played the wife of Josh Duhamel’s character, Sheldon Sampson/The Utopian. Besides being the wife, Leslie Bibb’s Lady Liberty is one of the series’s most powerful superheroes. After Jupiter’s Legacy premiered on May 7, 2021, it quickly became the most-watched show on the platform. However, despite its viewership numbers, Netflix did not renew the show for a second season.
God’s Favorite Idiot
After playing the superhero in Jupiter’s Legacy, Leslie Bibb was cast as Satan in another Netflix TV show, God’s Favorite Idiot. Co-starring alongside Ben Falcone and Melissa McCarthy in the religious apocalyptic workplace comedy, Bibb portrayed the biblical demon. However, the cast could do little to convince critics and audiences. Although slated to air 16 episodes, only the first batch of 8 episodes were ever aired. Although not officially canceled, there has been no statement from Netflix about the show’s future.
Palm Royale
Taking a two-year break from TV shows, Leslie Bibb returned in 2024. Bibb plays a supporting role as Dinah Donahue on the Apple TV+ period comedy-dramas miniseries Palm Royale. Bibb’s Dinah Donahue character is one of the wealthy socialites at the exclusive Palm Royale resort in the series Palm Beach. The show centers around Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons’ (Kristen Wiig) schemes to infiltrate the Palm Royale and become part of the town’s elite.
