Extraction 2 dropped an explosive trailer and it’s looking like the much-anticipated sequel has upped the ante from the original and is set to deliver some more groundbreaking action sequences. The first Extraction movie showcased a spectacular amount of exhilarating car chases, brutal fights, and long-take scenes, quickly becoming one of Netflix’s biggest movies as a result. Diehard action movie lovers have been eagerly awaiting the trailer for Extraction 2 since 2020’s first movie, and it did not disappoint.
The trailer was more of a taste of what’s to come, showing off a full fight scene rather than a total concept of the movie’s story. However, the fight scene was a definite step up in terms of its sheer size. In the trailer, Tyler fights his way through an angry mob and armored policemen before being set on fire by a Molotov cocktail. This doesn’t stop him from pressing on though, and he bulldozes his way through heaps of men with ease, displaying his ruthless hand-to-hand combat skills. Here’s everything we know about Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction 2.
How Is Chris Hemsworth’s Tyler Returning For Extraction 2?
In 2020, Netflix introduced cinema to its next big action hero, Tyler Rake (Hemsworth). Tyler is a fearless black market mercenary and an expert in combat. After being pulled out of blissful solitude in Australia, Tyler finds himself on his deadliest mission yet – saving the kidnapped son of a crime boss. Tyler fights his way across Dhaka, running afoul of rogue soldiers, corrupt policemen, and trained killers. He successfully gets the child to safety but is shot in the neck and falls into a river to his supposed death. However, from Extraction 2’s intense trailer, he managed to come around and live to fight another day.
What Will Extraction 2 Be About?
The plot for Extraction 2 has been kept tightly under wraps since it went into production, but from the trailer, it appears Tyler is on yet another extraction mission. A girl is seen behind bars before Tyler immerges and simply says “move,” a snappy line that seems to be becoming the character’s catchphrase. After setting the woman free and fighting his way through the chaotic mob, it seems Tyler now embarks on a protection mission for the woman and her young children.
Extraction 2’s New & Returning Cast
Like with any action movie sequel, a brand new set of villains will be introduced – and one of them is looking particularly menacing. Tornike Gogrichiani’s character, Zurab, sports a nasty-looking bloodshot eye, scarred face, and a typical villainous face tattoo, so it’s safe to say he could be playing the lead villain. Golshifteh Farahani will return to her role as Bik Khan, the black market agent, and Tinatin Dalakishvili has joined the cast as the endangered innocent, Ketevan.
When Will Extraction 2 Be Released?
Extraction 2 will be a Netflix original and is set for release June 16, 2o23. The first movie, Extraction, is also a Netflix original and is currently available to stream on Netflix worldwide.
