Movies We Miss: Men at Work (1990)

I’ve mentioned before that I hit a wave of nostalgia at least once a day.  Well, that happened yesterday while flipping through the channels and a 90s comedy classic came on.  I hope you guys remember the movie Men at Work from 1990.   The film was directed and written by none other than Emilio Estevez.  Who did it star?  Brothers Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen.  It was probably the only movie that made being a garbage man in LA look cool and make being an LAPD officer look completely lame.

If you’ll recall the movie centers on two garbage men (Estevez and Sheen) who happen to pick up some trash of the wrong kind.  Gangsters dumped the body of a congressman they killed into the trash.  The rest of the movie involves the fellas trying to cover up the body and somehow dispose of it.  Along the way you get to meet their crazy boss (Keith David) who is an ex officer in the Vietnam War who’s a little off center, their rival garbage men who are consistently trying to sabotage their jobs, and Sheen’s love interest who worked for the dead congressman.

Honestly it’s one of the cheesiest movies of all-time but the soundtrack, light humor, and scenery of beach town Los Angeles puts a smile on your face for literally the entire movie.  Plus the guy who played Chainsaw in Summer School is in the movie as a delivery guy who Sheen and Estevez kidnap.   Seriously this was like the one 90s movie that really should have been released in 1985.  It’s just flat out awesome.  Check out the trailer below:
