It was announced earlier this week that Zach Dasher, the cousin to the Robertson family of Duck Dynasty fame, would be running for a seat in Congress. Though you may not know Zach, chances are you are familiar with Phil, Si, Miss Kay and the rest of the Robertson clan. How well do you really know the family behind Duck Commander? Take a look at the biographies of the six main cast members. You may learn something new about your favorite reality show stars.

Phil Robertson

Phil was born April 24, 1946 in Vivian, Louisiana and was a high school all-star athlete playing football, track, and baseball. He then attended Louisiana Tech University on a football scholarship. He was a first string quarterback, receiving more playing time than Terry Bradshaw. Phil would receive a BA degree in Physical Education and a Masters degree in Education. He taught in the Louisiana schools for many years. Phil would give up his teaching career and pursue his true passion: duck hunting. He was able to create a duck call, which he named Duck Commander and also received a patent for his product. And a business was born,. The Duck Commander headquarters is located in Monroe, Louisiana. Early on, his family was hired to assemble and package the products. Phil would travel to different stores to try to get them to buy and sell his product. In order to make ends meet, the family had a small commercial fishing business. Over the last 40 years, Duck Commander has become a popular brand and is sold in all 50 states. Phil even wrote an autobiography Happy, Happy, Happy, that spent many weeks in the #1 spot on the NY Times Best-Selling list. He and wife Kay have been happily married since 1966.

Kay Robertson

Miss Kay was born December 21, 1950 in West Monroe, Louisiana. Kay began dating Phil in 1964 and the couple were wed two years later when she was just 16. Miss Kay has a true passion for cooking and has been known to cook for the entire family and some of her neighbors. Some of her signature dishes are sticky frog legs, fried deer steak, craw-fish pie, and banana pudding. In 2013, she wrote a cookbook titled, Miss Kay’s Duck Commander Kitchen: Faith, Family, and Food–Bringing Our Home to Your Table. You may think that husband Phil would be her favorite member of the family, but it is actually Jesse the Jack Russell Terrier. Whenever a Jesse passes away, Miss Kay will buy a new puppy that resembles the old dog.

Si Robertson

Si was born April 27, 1948 in Vivian, Louisiana and was the sixth of seven children. Si, like his brother, played football in high school. He also tried his hand at Louisiana Tech University, but dropped out and was drafted into the US Army during Vietnam. Si would stay employed with the Army until 1993, where he would retire as a Sergeant First Class. He would then be employed at Duck Commander. He has been married to his wife Christine since 1971. They have two children: Trasa and Scott, who each have 4 sons. In 2013, he wrote a NY Times bestseller entitled, Si-Cology 1. He has also appeared on an episode of Last Man Standing starring Tim Allen and lent his voice to an okra mall janitor in a Veggie Tales video.

Jase Robertson

Jason Silas “Jase” Robertson was born on August 16, 1969 in Bernice, Louisiana. Jason followed in his father’s footsteps and developed a strong passion for hunting.  He is the current Chief Operating Office of Duck Commander, the company his father founded. His main job is to invent new duck calls. He is the inventor of the “Triple Threat,” a duck call using three reeds instead of two.  Jase met his wife Missy in high school. They went on a fake date to make his ex-girlfriend jealous. The couple wed days before Jase turned 21.  They have been married for 23 years and have 3 kids.  Jase has admitted in interviews that he has never been drunk or done drugs.  You may have noticed that Jase is always wearing a black beanie. It helps him stand out to fans among his brothers since they all have similar long beards.

Willie Jess Robertson was born April 22, 1972 in Bernice, Louisiana.  While he was growing up, Willie would work at Duck Commander building duck calls and answering business calls that would come in. Willie would continue his education at Harding University in Arkansas, where he would receive a business degree.  He has put that degree to good use being the Chief Operating Officer at Duck Commander.  In 2006, Willie started another company called Buck Commander, the company behind the Buckman series of DVDs and a show on the Outdoor Channel.  Willie has appeared on screen in an episode of Last Man Standing with Tim Allen and in the movie God’s Not Dead that was released earlier this year.  United States Representative Vance McAllister invited Willie as his guest to President Obama’s 2014 State of the Union Address.  Willie has been married to wife Korie since 1990.  They have five children and announced they would be adopting another child.

Korie Robertson

Korie is the loving wife of Willie, whom she met in third grade at Summer camp. They were wed one year after graduating from high school. Korie did not come from a hunting family, but quickly grew to love it. Like her husband, Korie attended Harding University. She received a degree in Art Education. She currently serves as the Office Manager at Duck Commander. She must ensure the office does not turn into a fun house. The couple have five kids, three are biological and two are adopted. the couple announced in late 2013 that they would be adopting another child. With her daughter Rebecca, Korie opened a clothing store called Duck & Dressing in West Monroe, Louisiana.
