Big Brother 14: It’s Official. Our Take on The New Cast and This Season’s New Twists

Big Brother 14 KaraAs Julie Chen would say on Eviction Day of Big Brother: “It’s Official.” The cast of Big Brother 14 has been revealed and as expected, there are 14 new House Guests… and 4 Returning Big Brother House Guests. Yep, we have some Vets in the mix again this year. But before you commit hara-kiri on yourselves at the news of the returning House Guests, there is a twist involved with that situation that might be worth exploring without gouging out our eyes and ears beforehand. The downside to this is that we will have to find out what their mission is come premiere night, but by the look of things, we still have 12 House Guests and two slots still open to fill. How much do you want to bet that the returning 4 HGs will have to compete to keep their spots in the Big Brother House and join the game full-time? If that’s the case, let’s schedule the mass hara-kiri ritual at 8pm next Thursday.

So who are the lucky twelve competing in the Big Brother this season? Check out the new contestants and pray that they aren’t as dumb as the newbies of last season.

Big Brother 14 IanIan

Quick Summary: 21 year-old Engineering student from Tulane University, but was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. Considers himself “intelligent, eccentric and analytical,” which basically means he was born to compete on Big Brother.

What We Like About Him: Kind of reminds me of Ronnie from Big Brother 11, but let’s hope that’s only in looks and not in personality.

First Impressions: By looks he could be a fave, but looks could hide the personality of an idiot

Big Brother 14 JodiJodi

Quick Summary: Jodi is a 42 year-old restaurant server hailing from Calipatria, California and describes herself as being “fun, outdoorsy, and opinionated.” We are loving that she’s “opinionated.”

Initial Reaction To Her: The commercials from yesterday made her look goofy as hell, but to be fair that was just a split second clip of her and Lord knows what type of drama this little woman is packing.

First Impressions: By looks alone, Jodi looks like she could be the love child of Shelly and Kalia, if that type of thing was possible. In other words, she has the “mother hen” vibe going, which can take you so far in this game. Hopefully, Jodi will be able to break that ‘Big Brother mother hen’ curse.

Big Brother WillieWillie

Quick Summary: From Louisiana to Texas, this 34 year-old tankerman seems like the rowdy type (he loves gambling and strip clubs), who is a walking contradiction since he considers himself both “docile” and “hostile.” Hmm… Yep, seems like we got ourselves a hot head!

What We Like About Him: Well, anyone who says that they are both Team Docile and Team Hostile is Big Brother textbook crazy and while we might hate Willie for most of the season, he could still bring good drama. Plus, turns out that this guy is the brother of Survivor villain Russell Hantz, which means we will most definitely love to hate this guy.

First Impressions: Willie seems like he could be an punk with both brains and brawn for intimidation, which can be a double-edged sword in the Big Brother house. Here’s hoping Willie doesn’t follow in the steps of his brother, tread lightly, and make it at least to jury.

Big Brother 14 AshleyAshley

Quick Summary: Self-employed at 26, Ashley could use her age and profession (she owns a Mobile Spray Tanning Company, folks) as tools to project a vapid version of herself while cutting the competition left and right.

What We Like About Her: As stated before, Ashley is a self-made woman who started her own business before age 30. That means if looks could kill, the HGs are basically DOA when it comes to trying to pull a fast one on her. Allegedly.

First Impressions: We’re digging her. Let’s just pray that she isn’t one of the first bombshells to leave the Big Brother house. Remember Cassi from last season? Yea. What a waste…

Big Brother 14 JoJoJoJo

Quick Summary: Bartender JoJo is the anti-Ashley and is glad to be free and single at age 26. Other than that? She’s “humble” and “sparkling.”

What We Like About Her: At least she’s honest about being humble and trying to lay low. Plus, she can’t stand Rachel, which is a plus with us.

First Impressions: In a nutshell: a way sexier looking version of Rachel.

Big Brother 14 WilWil

Quick Summary: Beside looking like a demure version of Fabio, Wil is a marketing exec who thinks it’s best to keep his profession to himself to not intimidate anyone too soon. Plus, the man’s hair is (almost) freaking flawless! Also, turns out that Wil was in one of the weird outtakes from American Idol.

What We Like About HIm: His hair. For now. Seriously. Fabio would be proud.

First Impressions: Wil’s bio didn’t give us much to mull over in terms of game play, besides taking on the “nice guy” role to weasel folks into trusting him. All he has to do is tell the women in the house the secrets of having an immaculate mane as his.

Big Brother 14 ShaneShane

Quick Summary: This 26 year-old house flipper is this Big Brother cast’s All-American Boy, a mantle previously held by Jeff and Brendon. In short, I bet there’s a dark side lurking within this guy.

What We Like About Him: The man graduated from college with a 3.8 in Pre-Med only to make a living flipping houses. To us, that’s pretty bad ass.

First Impressions: Hopefully, Shane is nothing like Brendon and Jeff and will become the hero of Big Brother this summer. However, something tells us this might not be the case…

Big Brother 14 DanielleDanielle

Quick Summary: If Shane is the All-American Boy this season, Danielle will be his All-American equal. From her bio, Danielle is just a down-to-earth girl, who is passionate about life and people in general. Her profession as a nurse shows that she is a people person, which she can use in her arsenal in the Big Brother house.

What We Like About Her: She seems to be the girl to root for, because she’s a true humble soul, who doesn’t take life for granted. Plus, she can’t stand Rachel as well.

First Impressions: Give her the $500,000 check already!

Big Brother 14 JoeJoe

Quick Summary: This 41 year-old chef is praying that his culinary prowess will help him sustain a spot in the Big Brother House until the end. Plus, Joe is a proud family man, who has his eyes on the prize and the prize only and is already the host of his own cooking show called “madlovecooking.tv.”

What We Like About Him: We’re feeling Mr. Joe for wearing his chef’s shirt in his photo as if he was a cast member of Top Chef.

First Impressions: While we don’t think that Joe’s food will be his saving grace from eviction, we do think that he and Jodi could be the perfect parentals to their younger Big Brother counterparts.

Big Brother 14 FrankFrank

Quick Summary: Being 28 and unemployed has to suck royally for Frank, but he seems to be taking it all in stride. He doesn’t have that many achievements outside of paying for his own braces while attending college, which we don’t think that will be a useful trait in the Big Brother House

What We Like About Him: His vision of a Big Brother Dream Team plan for domination of the Big Brother House. He really thought about that one.

First Impressions: Frank is a wild card, but will he manage to stand out among the other BB Hamsters?

Big Brother 14 JennJenn

Quick Summary: Jenn is all about music, whether if she’s making it herself or listening to it. But when you look at her picture, you wouldn’t immediately peg her as being 37 years-old. Wow…

What We Like About Her: She’s just bold all around. Plus, she reminds us of a cross-breed of past Big Brother contestants Nakomis and Evel Dick.

First Impressions: Not many at this point, because it seems as if Jenn is a “what you see is what you get” type of chick. In this case, she seems like a total badass. And we sorta love badasses here at TVOvermind.

Big Brother 14 KaraKara

Quick Summary: Forget what CBS has on her bio. Kara (29) is a Playboy Playmate of the Year! We know that CBS wants to keep it clean with their contestants, but they should’ve known folks would have known who she was when the cast was announced.

What We Like About Her: Not only has Kara worked with Hugh Hefner, but she also worked at Walt Disney World as a dancer playing Alice, Snow White, and Cinderella at the resort. In other words, she’s a girl with many talents, which could come in handy when dealing shade among her fellow HGs.

First Impressions: Sweet Lord, we pray she’s not the first one voted out. She seems like she could be a pretty tough competitor, but will her past be her downfall within the Big Brother House? You know, among the jealous women who might use her Playboy title against her?

Big Brother 14 Secret Returning HouseguestFour Returning House Guests

Quick Summary: Four previous Big Brother players will be thrown back into the mix of things this season. However, they will be playing their own game and competing for a separate prize of their own. Sounds like a catch somewhere doesn’t it?

What We Like About This: At least the Vets won’t be mixed in with the new cast and can’t pick them off one by one. There is a different prize at stake here for the Vets, so they could at least focus on that.

What We Don’t Like About This: Who’s to say that both factions won’t have to merge during midseason? If that’s the case then we will have a rehashed version of what transpired last year, which is not good.

First Impressions: Shock, horror, relief, and repeat. As stated before, could the last two slots of the Big Brother Wall be reserved for 2 out of those 4 vets? We shall see next week!
