The Voice 6.10 Recap: Head-to-Head Battles Continue

the voice7

The battles continued on Season 6 of The Voice on Monday night giving coaches Usher, Shakira, Adam Levin and Blake Shelton an opportunity to solidify their individual teams. The battles, as we all know, are an opportunity for the coaches to really get a look at who can potentially win the competition and maybe steal a potential winner. Just look at Will Champlin last year, he lost his battle and made it to the final three.

So let’s look at last night’s battles and whether or not we agree with the verdict:

Josh Kaufman vs. Austin Ellis (Adam): Once again, Team Adam with Aloe Blacc as an adviser staged a pretty epic battle here. I agree with Levine on his choice of Josh Kaufman.

Audra McLaughlin vs. Alaska and Madi (Blake): I was most pleased with the outcome of this battle. That’s no knock on Alaska and Madi, but I believe that this is strictly a solo artist show and a tandem just shouldn’t have even been let on the show in the first place. McLaughlin for the win.

Deja Hall vs. Music Box (Shakira): Maybe one of the best battles of the night? Shakira after working with adviser Miranda Lambert conjured up a pretty awesome battle that left her with a very tough decision. She ended up picking Deja Hall when it was obvious that Music Box was going to get stolen. Usher picked her up swiftly. Fitting for all.

Madilyn Paige vs. Tanner James (Usher): I’ve been trying to evaluate Usher’s team this season as I’ve felt Blake and Adam are the leaders right now. I was impressed by Madilyn Paige and I’m glad Usher picked her. Do I think she can win… umm not sure, but it was the right choice.

Dawn & Hawkes vs. Josh Murley (Adam): Boooo! Levine picked the duo here when I really didn’t think he had to. I thought Murley was strong and it was shown by Shakira picking him up. Come on Adam no duos!

Bria Kelly vs. Tess Boyer (Usher): What a nice way to end. Bria Kelly outdueled Tess Boyer, but then Blake Shelton swooped in and grabbed Tess Boyer.

Overall, it was a good night of competition. Like I said last time, I don’t know if it’s because I really loved last season, but I’m just not convinced the performances are as good. There’s still time. Overall, good show and the coaches were highly entertaining. With a one-hour show tonight and only one steal (I think) left – it’ll be interesting to see who gets the nod. After tonight we will have a good idea of which coach has the squad to win it this season.
