Video Explains Why Love Never Works in Star Wars

Love never seems to work in Star Wars and this video shows you and tries to tell you why. Opposites do tend to attract and in Star Wars this is the norm it would seem. The only couple that really stays together for the long haul are Uncle Lars and Aunt Beru, and we all saw what happened to them when they were seen as little more than obstacles. Every other power couple in the Star Wars seems destined to crumble and disintegrate for many reasons. From Anakin and Padme to Rey and Kylo Ren. Supposedly Kylo is trying to do more than just take her as his ally and possible apprentice, he’s trying to seduce her.

I’m not too sure about that, but he’s definitely been playing mind games. How it can be seen that he’s trying to love her in some warped kind of way is something that a lot of Star Wars fans might shake their head at, but they’re not the only couple that are somehow doomed from the beginning. For Anakin and Padme it was simply not bound to be a happy ending since we already knew that Anakin was an emotional wreck and a pit of boiling, raw emotion. He was unbalanced from the beginning and a normal, sustaining relationship with anyone outside of his mother was not going to happen so long as he had so much conflict  bubbling up inside him.

Han and Leia are perhaps one of the greatest power couples in the Star Wars franchise and yet still one of the most unstable. It wouldn’t matter if you hearkened back to the now-defunct legends canon that Disney tossed out or their current dynamic in The Force Awakens, they were a troubled couple from the start. Han simply has too much self-interest that never completely dies out and Leia has a responsibility to the Republic that was formed and in the movies to the Resistance as it’s general. In other words Han never stopped being a scoundrel and Leia never stopped being a savior.

Finn and Rose might be a viable couple but like every couple in this franchise they are bound to be separated either by duty or by tragedy in the next movie to come. Stable relationships are not a hallmark of the Star Wars franchise. They tend to fall by the wayside very quickly or cause such ruination that they were doomed from the start.

Rey and Kylo though, I don’t see it. I can see where the video might pick up on the fact that the two do stare intently at one another, but I don’t see the attraction. Rey is disgusted by Kylo but is still intrigued enough to think that Ben Solo can be brought back to the Light side of the Force. Apart from that she is seeking answers to where her place in the universe might be, and for all we know Kylo lied to her about her parents, even though it seems like it might be true. If there’s anyone that she might eventually hook up with it might be Poe Dameron, a there was something of a spark there when they met. But Kylo is not a possibility.
