The Top Five Unanswered Questions from Stranger Things 2

The second season of Stranger Things managed to do its job well. On the one hand, it managed to resolve some of its storylines to the satisfaction of its viewers; on the other hand, it left a number of unanswered questions, which are sure to bring in interested individuals once Season 3 comes around.

Here are five questions that remain unanswered from Stranger Things 2:

Are There Others Besides 8 and 11?

People have been wondering since Season 1 whether there were other people besides Eleven who had been experimented upon. Since Season 2 revealed the existence of Kali, people are now wondering what happened to the other subjects, how they will show up in future seasons, and whether each one of them has their own particular powers. At this point in time, the possibilities seem endless.

Has Hopper Been Infected?

Hopper didn’t spend much time in the underground tunnels, but Stranger Things nonetheless showed him coughing out black phlegm. As a result, one cannot help but wonder whether this means that the police chief has become infected in a similar manner to what happened to Will. Something that would have enormous consequences for his role in future seasons of Stranger Things.

Is Will Free?

Will’s connection to the Mind Flayer was the core of Season 2’s narrative. In the finale, he was overheated to force the Mind Flayer out, but it is important to note that said creature has proven to be capable of concealing its presence well in the past. As a result, while it would be rather unfortunate for Will, it is interesting to wonder whether the Mind Flayer still retains some sort of connection to him that could come into play in the future.

Did Dart Bond with Dustin?

There was a fair amount of discussion about the denizens of the Upside Down being members of a hive mind. However, there were some moments that could be interpreted as Dart having formed a bond with Dustin to some extent, with an excellent example being how it never threatened Dustin. No matter the truth, it would have some rather fascinating implications about how the denizens of the Upside Down function. For example, if Dart did form a bond with Dustin, does that mean that individual entities possess enough of a mind to make their own decisions in spite of the hive mind’s own concerns? If so, to what extent is this true?

What Will Be the Mind Flayer’s Future Role?

The last scene in Season 2 made it clear that the Mind Flayer will be making a return as an antagonist of some sort in the future. However, the question is when that will happen. Perhaps it will make its return in Season 3, particularly since the Duffer brothers have stated that they are thinking about setting said season sometime after the ending of Season 2. However, it is also possible that the Mind Flayer won’t be making a return until some point even further into the future, which would make sense if the series is going to spend some time exploring the setting beyond the confines of a single town.
