Although Adam Sandler has had his fair share of unfavorable reviews over the course of his film career, the box office numbers speak for themselves: the comedian has a much larger legion of devoted fans than he does of haters. Adam Sandler has become one of the highest-earning comedians of all time, thanks to his brilliant career as an actor and a producer. Here are the top 10 best Adam Sandler movies out of all of his hits, and some of them may surprise you.
10. You Don’t Mess With The Zohan
The film’s biggest problem is that it ends too soon. I adore this movie, and I think anyone looking for some silly fun with a buffed-up Adam Sandler should check it out. Sandler turns in a hilarious and impressive performance and successfully communicates the film’s themes of politics, self-acceptance, romance, and passion for what you love. To sum up, Zohan is a fantastic film since it is humorous and lighthearted without being simplistic or lacking in depth.
9. Happy Gilmore
In many of his most successful films, Sandler either stars in a sports drama or has a major rage episode. The success of Happy Gilmore can be attributed to the fact that it combines these two elements. Sandler takes on the role of a hotheaded hockey player wannabe who surprisingly excels at golf. Sandler is funny in the role, and it’s a lot of fun to see this violent, bombastic figure amid the mellow, reserved world of golf. Sandler’s career was defined by his iconic image of fighting Bob Barker.
8. Bedtime Stories
This film provides excellent entertainment. It baffles me why some individuals don’t enjoy it. Everyone in the film, including Adam Sandler, did a fantastic job. Adam Sandler is a fantastic actor who can convincingly portray whatever role he’s given. Anyone who likes humor and/or films aimed toward younger audiences should give this a shot. I was pleasantly surprised by how fantastic this film actually was. At Disney, they have once again proven that they rarely let their fans down. Take the kids out to see this film. If you miss it in the cinemas, be sure to see it on home video whenever it becomes available; you won’t regret it.
7. Billy Madison
After gaining fame on Saturday Night Live, Adam Sandler got his big movie break with the part of Billy Madison. Sandler portrays the title character, a slacker who discovers that he has to go back to school to become the heir to his father’s business. It was a classic comedic setup to see Sandler’s manchild persona thrown into a school setting with actual children. The film allowed Sandler to show off his offbeat brand of humor, and the resulting absurdity was both amusing and wildly successful.
6. Click
For the most part, Sandler’s comedies take a high-concept approach, with big and exciting ideas that should lead to big laughs. In Click, Sandler plays a workaholic father who gets a magical universal remote that gives him power over his surroundings. While this concept opens up a world of humorous possibilities, the movie also delves into some deeply sad outcomes. Click has a lot of comedic moments, but it may also make some viewers emotional.
5. The Waterboy
For this exhibition of unparalleled artistic skill, no words were necessary. Anyone who didn’t give this 4 to 5 stars is crazy. This is filmmaking at its finest. It’s hard to believe Sandler wasn’t nominated for an Academy Award for his stunning performance as Bobby Boucher, given the film’s riveting plot and tight atmosphere. Certainly, it ranks among the top films of all time. A notable mention goes to Blake Clark, who plays the farmer, Fran. Extensive kudos to everyone who contributed to this successful outcome.
4. Big Daddy
Sandler portrays an extremely irresponsible bum with little work ethic or aspirations. A somewhat abandoned child shows up on his doorstep, and he must take care of him. There’s no need to elaborate; everyone here is familiar with the ending. But the film’s value lies in the impression it leaves on viewers. All in all, it gives us a good chuckle. The picture is a nonstop barrage of laughs and good times, even in the brief moments when it pauses for audience rest. These movies don’t aim to be as good as Instinct or The Siege, but they do want to make you forget about your problems for 90 minutes.
3. 50 First Dates
Another brilliant work by Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The narrative centers on Lucy Whitmore, whose recent memory loss results from an accident. When she wakes up in the morning, her memory is refreshed to the point before the accident, but she has no recollection of anything that occurred. The film’s fundamental theme that slow, unselfish romance is more satisfying than frequent flings is excellent. Henry’s painstaking efforts to “meet” and demonstrate his love for Lucy serve as a role model. He understands how easily her emotions can be hurt. So that she can have some background on their relationship when she first wakes up in the morning, he has made an effort to record a film of their time together.
2. The Longest Yard
It may seem like an odd mix of Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, WWE Superstars including Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bill Goldberg, and rap artists, but trust me: it all works together in this fantastic film. The actors’ obvious enjoyment of their roles prevents the comedy from feeling forced, and the vicious guards keep you waiting to see if they get their due punishment. Not only does this film depict the treatment of prisoners in American prisons, but it also highlights the racial tensions that exist there. I could list a thousand more reasons why you should watch this film, but I think it’s better if you experience it alone. No, really, you should check it out.
1. The Wedding Singer
Even though I’m not usually a sucker for romantic comedies, I can’t help but feel a little fuzzy inside whenever Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore share the screen together. It’s a feel-good movie with charming characters, hilarious moments, and a lovable tale, despite some clichéd bits. Whenever I’m having a horrible day, it’s one of my favorite “go-to”s. Those who haven’t watched this masterpiece, please watch it. Billy Madison
