Since the start of the 2020s, Chloe Bailey has had increasing credits in movies and TV shows. The multi-talented actress is also a successful singer-songwriter and record producer. Professionally known as Chlöe, the actress gained international recognition from the success of Chloe x Halle’s second studio album, Ungodly Hour.
Chloe is one of the two-member Chloe x Halle band she shares with her younger sister, Halle Bailey. Chloe Bailey co-stars alongside Russell Crowe, Ryan Simpkins, and Sam Worthington in the 2024 horror film The Exorcism. With several other upcoming movies to her credit, here are Chloe Bailey’s top movies and TV shows of her career.
Meet the Browns
Chloe Bailey made her screen acting debut in 2003 at age 5. She played the young Lilly in the Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyoncé Knowles-led cast of The Fighting Temptations. In 2008, the then nine-year-old Bailey starred as Tosha Brown in Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns. In the 2008 romantic comedy-drama, Bailey’s character was Brenda Brown’s (Angela Bassett) daughter. Although cast in a minor supporting role, Bailey had significant screen time in the movie with Bassett, who plays her mother, cast as the protagonist. Bassett played a struggling single mother with two kids (Bailey and Lance Gross) who’s invited to her long-lost father’s funeral. There, she meets relatives she never knew existed and finds strength in her new family.
Grown-ish
Chloe Bailey’s breakthrough role as an actress is unarguably ABC’s Black-ish spin-off comedy-drama series Grown-ish. Cast as Jazlyn Amerie “Jazz” Forster, Bailey played one of the Forster twin sisters, alongside her younger sister Halle Bailey. Chloe Bailey’s character Jazz was one of the series’ main cast. With the series based on the Johnson family’s children as they go to college, Jazz is introduced as a college student majoring in Economics.
In season 1, Jazz and Sky Forster (Halle Bailey) are practically inseparable. Jazz was introduced as sassy and extremely smart. Jazz’s relationship with Doug Edwards (Diggy Simmons) caused a rift between her and her twin sister. Bailey was part of the main cast in seasons 1 to 4, following her time in college. However, she only made guest appearances in season 5. She also reprised the role in a 2020 Black-ish episode (“Love, Boat”).
Jane
In the Sabrina Jaglom-directed psychological thriller Jane, Chloe Bailey is cast in a supporting role as Isabelle “Izzy” Morris. The movie centered around Olivia Brooks (Madelaine Petsch), an over-ambitious high school student seeking admission into her dream university, Stanford University. However, at the start of that school year, Olivia lost one of her close friends, Jane (Chloe Yu). Bailey’s Izzy is Olivia’s other best friend and a mutual friend of the late Jane.
After Olivia and Izzy discover one of Jane’s social media accounts she forgot to log out of, they use the account to troll students and teachers they wish to punish. However, Olivia becomes more obsessed with it, especially after her Stanford University application is deferred. This soon causes a rift between Olivia and Izzy, with Izzy believing Olivia is taking things too far. Almost two decades after her screen debut, Chloe Bailey delivers a stellar performance as Izzy.
Swarm
Besides her guest appearances in several other TV shows, Prime Video’s Swarm miniseries is Chloe Bailey’s second major work on television. In the satirical comedy horror thriller, Bailey was cast in a recurring role as Marissa “Ris” Jackson. Her character was the childhood best friend of Andrea “Dre” Greene (Dominique Fishback), an obsessed fan of a world-famous pop star, Ni’Jah. After Ris commits suicide, Dre begins a murderous and dark path across the United States. The 7-episode miniseries originally aired on Prime Video on March 17, 2023.
Praise This
Chloe Bailey’s two-decade acting career culminated with her first lead role on the big screen in 2023. Bailey led the cast of the 2023 musical comedy romance Praise This. Bailey played Sam, an aspiring, rebellious singer-songwriter. All Sam cares about is her music and advancing her musical career. However, when she moves to Atlanta, Sam is convinced by her cousin, Jess (Anjelika Washington), to join her local church Praise Team.
Although Sam sees it as an opportunity to sing, she’s quickly turned off by their style, claiming their songs and choreography is boring and old school. Sam does her best to “change” the Christian Praise Team by infusing “worldly” styles. American rapper and record producer Quavo also joined the cast as Ty, Sam’s potential love interest and a famous Atlanta rapper.
