Born in Los Angeles County, Brytni Sarpy was exposed to the entertainment world at an early age. However, it wasn’t until High School that she developed an interest in the performing arts. It all began after she was cast as a witch in a High School Scottish play. The role meant she had to reach within to deliver a convincing performance as someone with supernatural powers. The experience helped open Sarpy into a new world of possibilities where she could be anything she wanted.

Brytni Sarpy Initially Applied For The Roles Of Taylor DuBois & Jordan Ashford In General Hospital

Brytni Sarpy’s four-year stint at General Hospital was unarguably the breakthrough role of her career. Sarpy was cast as Valerie Spencer and introduced as the late Pat Spencer’s (Dee Wallace) daughter and Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) niece. GH head writer Ron Carlivati created the character, with Sarpy as its originator. Brytni Sarpy first appeared on the show on March 20, 2015.

However, the role wasn’t the first time Sarpy had auditioned for GH. She had always believed she wanted to be in a soap opera and first auditioned unsuccessfully for NBC’s Days of Our Lives several times. With the casting call for Taylor DuBois in the spring of 2013, Sarpy answered GH’s casting call. However, since the character was a 16-year-old, Brytni Sarpy was considered too old for the role. Both Samantha Logan and Pepi Sonuga portrayed Taylor DuBois in 2013.

Brytni Sarpy later auditioned for Jordan Ashford. At the time, a temporary replacement for actress Briana Nicole Henry was needed following her COVID-19 diagnosis. Although Sarpy made an impression on the casting department, she was considered too young for the role. So, when a casting call for Valerie Spencer was sent out, it was an easy decision to give Sarpy the role when she returned to audition. However, Sarpy’s Valerie Spencer was dropped from a series regular to a recurring role in 2016.
