Want to Buy Harry Potter’s Childhood Home? It’s for Sale

Fancy a home that’s featured in literature? The Harry Potter home in Godric’s Hollow is up for sale. Yep, that’s right, the same home that the Potter’s met their end in, as far as the movie goes, is now on the market and available for purchase. It carries a handsome price obviously with real estate being what it is today, but just imagine it, you could own and live in a piece of history made famous by modern literature! If you’re a Harry Potter fan so much the better right? Thankfully you won’t have to worry over a visit from [easyazon_link identifier=”B000I5S7M0″ locale=”US” tag=”tvovermind00a-20″]Lord Voldemort[/easyazon_link] in the real world and you should be fairly comfortable given that the home has a great deal of space and it’s own back yard. The entire home is rather quaint with what amounts to traditional and modern architecture that have combined to create a warm and inviting space.

Potter fans would no doubt jump at this chance if they had the kind of money in hand that’s being asked for the property, a little over half a million, and would likely move in without a second thought. Obviously this isn’t where Daniel Radcliffe was born and raised but the fictional tale of it all would be enough for many people. After all in the books this was where Harry spent the first and probably best year of his life in his younger years.

It’s a little odd but during the process of selling the home the mention of [easyazon_link identifier=”B005OCFHHK” locale=”US” tag=”tvovermind00a-20″]Harry Potter[/easyazon_link] has not been brought up, though there could easily be reasons for this.

It could drive people away.

The thought of living in a home made famous by a fictional story is, for some people, a deal breaker largely because the home would carry a certain notoriety that they do not care for. After all with so many people in love with the [easyazon_link identifier=”B005OCFHHK” locale=”US” tag=”tvovermind00a-20″]Harry Potter franchise[/easyazon_link] there is nothing to say that scores of visitors and tourists wouldn’t want to just “stop by” and take pictures randomly whenever it suited them. This type of behavior is not guaranteed obviously but there is the thought that such a thing could happen. If you recall the movie The Goonies, the home used in Astoria, Oregon has had to shut down in the past to at least make an attempt to respect the privacy of the family that lives there. This could be a very big issue if such a thing were to happen in this case. There’s nothing saying it would, but with the fan base of Harry Potter being worldwide and consisting of a few over-zealous individuals, there’s always the outside chance.

It could attract far too many people.

This is more of a continuation of the above issue as attracting those that are merely seeking out a famous site could cause a flood of unwanted attention for the home. Buyers would no doubt be frightened off thinking that this is what they would have to expect on a regular basis. The business brought in by the elevated level of tourism could be acceptable, but the invasion of privacy could easily disrupt the lives of anyone attempting to live in such a location.

It might be a nice home but unless the Potter craze has completely died down it could also bring a lot of unwanted attention.
