Everyone’s talking International Women’s Day today. Rightfully so. It’s a big deal and women deserve all of the same praise as men. In fact, it would be nice if there wasn’t even an International Women’s Day because then maybe things would in fact be as even as they should be. But since that’s unfortunately not the case I’m glad that there’s a day where we can appreciate all that women are, what they do, and what they mean to each and every one of us.
That said, as much as I want to praise my wife, my sister, nieces, mother in law, sister in law, aunts, cousins, and every other woman that’s impacted my life, I wanted to give out praise to the toughest woman I’ve ever known. This is not a real woman. This is a fictional character. But if you want tough, if you want in charge and in command look no further than Mama Fratelli from The Goonies.
Played by the late Anne Ramsey she was the epitome of tough. There’s no faking in this character. Everything she says and does is sincere. You gotta respect that. Anyway, that’s my International Women’s day salute. Thanks.
