On this Week’s Episode of Speechless JJ gets caught Cheating and Ray goes to the Career Fair at school
When the DiMeo’s don’t receive Kenneth’s invitation to his Jazz Brunch they decide to do a purge. This is where they get to catch up on all their old mail, e-mails and voicemails. While cleaning, they receive a voicemail, e-mail and letter from JJ’s teacher who wants to see them.
Meanwhile, Ray is excited about the Career Fair and seeing what job will make him a lot of money. When Ray arrives at the Career Fair, he goes around asking everyone how much money they make and when Jimmy sees this he tells Ray it’s incredibly rude. (More on that later)
When Mya meets with JJ’s History teacher, he tells her that JJ has been cheating. At first Mya doesn’t believe it and tells him to let JJ retake the test right now. He does but while JJ is taking the test Mya sees that Kenneth is giving him the answers.
She apologizes to his teacher and is obviously very upset with both JJ and Kenneth for cheating. She tells JJ that he’s a smart kid and he needs to apply himself. Mya realizes that all of JJ’s teachers have been letting him slide. When she finds out JJ hasn’t done any of his homework, Mya goes to the teachers lounge to tell all of JJ’s teachers not to give him special treatment.
Meanwhile, Ray gets caught up in a Pyramid Scheme when he buys 500 dollars worth of awful jewelry. In order to help Ray sell the jewelry Jimmy host a trunk show and invites people he will never see again and convinces them buy jewelry. The next day Ray tells Jimmy that they sold everything and he ordered twice as much jewelry because twice as much jewelry means twice as much money, Jimmy tells him to stop caring so much about money.
When Mya drops JJ off at school, she tells him that he can do anything he sets his mind to and that he is going to have a great job and a life that he’s earned himself (I thought the speech was really sweet) When Mya drives away JJ hides in the bushes. When Kenneth finds him JJ asks if he will do well on the test and if he is dumb. Kenneth tells him, no he’s not dumb and that he is really smart.
Jimmy takes Ray to show him some windows he designed when he was studying Architecture. Jimmy tells him that he understands drive and he has drive but it’s just pointed in a different direction now. Ray says he gets that but thinks it’s better to make money because he wants options. Jimmy thinks he is talking about options for himself and tells him he is 14 and has all options. Ray tells Jimmy he ment options for JJ later on and ask if there is a plan.
Also at the school, JJ gets his test back and scores an 81. He says it’s not a 92 but it’s his.
Back at home Jimmy and Mya talk to Dylan and Ray about a plan for JJ later on after they are gone, which JJ overhears and asks to talk to Kenneth.
The side story of this Episode is that after taking clothes from one of Jimmy’s unclaimed suitcases, Dylan becomes popular and everyone in the school starts dressing like her because they think it’s cool. She tells them to be who they are and to wear what they want and not care about being cool. But after hearing their Fashion choices she tells them she will decide what they wear. (Which totally defeated the purpose of her speech and made no sense). Overall I think this was a good Episode of Speechless aside from Dylan’s storyline which I felt was unnecessary.
