The Disney+ Phineas and Ferb voice cast and characters entertained audiences for over eight years during its original run. The animated musical-comedy series largely became one of the most successful animated franchises on Disney Channel. The Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh-created series originally aired on Disney Channel/Disney XD for 4 seasons, from August 17, 2007, to June 12, 2015.
Phineas and Ferb is set in the fictional tri-state area of Danville. It follows the two titular characters, step-brothers Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher, as well as Phineas’ older sister Candace and pet Perry, a platypus, during the summer vacations. Although the series concluded in June 2015, two new seasons were ordered in January 2023, with the first scheduled to premiere sometime in 2024. In preparation for what is scheduled as season 5, here are the main Phineas and Ferb voice cast and their characters.
Vincent Martella as Phineas Flynn
Phineas Flynn quickly stands out in Phineas and Ferb as the loquacious brother. He has a triangularly shaped head with red hair and the tip. To avoid boredom during the summer vacation, Phineas often brings new ideas for new activities to engage in with his stepbrother, Ferb. Phineas and Ferb live in a blended family, a choice the creators chose to balance out family dynamics, especially because blended families are underused in most children’s shows and movies.
Phineas is also the shortest among the main human characters. Also, he’s Candace Flynn’s younger biological brother. American actor Vincent Martella has voiced Phineas Flynn since the show premiered in 2007. Martella, born on October 15, 1992, first voiced Phineas at age 14. Besides Phineas and Ferb, Vincent Martella is famous for playing Greg Wuliger on the UPN/The CW’s autobiographical sitcom Everybody Hates Chris from 2005 to 2009.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Ferb Fletcher
Ferb Fletcher is the tallest of the stepbrothers, has green hair, and is from the United Kingdom. He’s the smart one and often the brains behind their inventions. Although he speaks way less than Phineas, he’s more vocal when he sings. English actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster voiced the character throughout Phineas and Ferb‘s original run on Disney Channel/ Disney XD.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster has played several iconic and memorable roles in the last two decades. He played Sam in Love Actually (2003), Simon in Nanny McPhee, Jojen Reed in Game of Thrones (2013–2014), and Newt in the Maze Runner film series (2014–2018). He also played Benny Watts in the Netflix miniseries The Queen’s Gambit (2020). Besides the Disney series, Ferb Fletcher’s character has been voiced by David Errigo Jr.
Ashley Tisdale as Candace Gertrude Flynn
Candace Gertrude Flynn is introduced as Phineas’ 15-year-old biological sister and Ferb’s step-sister. The orange-haired Candace is the antagonist of the show. In almost every episode, Candace tries to expose Phineas and Ferb’s inventions to their mother. However, she never succeeds, as the invention always disappears before the mom shows up. Her other storyline is trying to get the attention of a boy named Jeremy. American actress and singer Ashley Tisdale voices the character of Candace, a role she has reprised in the show and its spin-offs.
Ashley Tisdale is known for playing Maddie Fitzpatrick in the Disney Channel’s The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2005–2008), Savannah Monroe in Hellcats (2010–2011), Sabrina Spellman in Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch (2013–2014), and Danni Giordano in Clipped(2015). She recently starred in Merry Happy Whatever (2019) and Carol’s Second Act (2019–2020). In movies, she’s known for playing Sharpay Evans in the High School Musical movies and Bethany Pearson in Aliens in the Attic (2009).
Dee Bradley Baker as Perry the Platypus
The weirdest Phineas and Ferb character is Phineas and Ferb’s pet, Perry the Platypus. While he cannot speak, Perry often communicates by rattling his bill. Phineas and Ferb‘s creators chose a Platypus because of its shape and the fact that it’s an underused animal in children’s programs. Perry is also an anthropomorphic Platypus secret agent for an all-animal government organization called the O.W.C.A. (Organization Without a Cool Acronym). He spent his trying to stop his evil arch nemesis, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz’s plans. American voice actor Dee Bradley Baker is cast as. Perry’s voice artist. Bradley Baker is mostly known for voicing characters in notable films and television shows. He has also made a few live-action appearances in minor roles on television.
Dan Povenmire as Dr. Heinz “Doof” Doofenshmirtz
Dr. Heinz “Doof” Doofenshmirtz is the secondary antagonist in Phineas and Ferb and is known as the evil scientist. In an attempt to rule or destroy the tri-state area, he often schemes up evil plans and inventions. However, Perry the Platypus often thwarts most of these inventions and plans. In defeat, Dr. Doofenshmirtz would scream the catchphrase, “Curse you, Perry the Platypus!” Also, he’s the father of Candace’s friend, Vanessa Doofenshmirtz (voiced by Olivia Olson).
Phineas and Ferb’s co-creator Dan Povenmire voices Dr. Heinz “Doof” Doofenshmirtz. As an animator, voice actor, writer, director, and producer, Dan Povenmire’s projects are often behind the scenes. Dan Povenmire is also the co-creator of Milo Murphy’s Law and creator of the animated superhero comedy Hamster & Gretel.
