Since episode one of How I Met Your Mother, Ted (Josh Radnor) has always been depicted as unlucky in love. Though this may be true, he has been able to date lots of beautiful women. His list of accomplishments includes: Mandy Moore, Jennifer Morrison, Sarah Chalke, and of course Cobie Smulders. Now Ted can add the delightful Anna Camp as his latest hook-up. Ted should not be jealous that he has not found the right girl yet. He should just be appreciative of the chance to be with such a great list of women.
The latest HIMYM episode entitled, “Knight Vision,” finds Ted with the opportunity of a lifetime. He gets his choice of three gorgeous women to escort him to Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin’s (Smulders) wedding. Option #1 is Sophia. She is Robin’s college roommate, who has been known to scream much like an ambulance. Option #2 is Grace. She works with Barney and has had 6 different positions, all of which were at the last Christmas party. Option #3 is Cassie (Camp). Her mother is best friends with Barney’s mom. Ted sees Cassie first, so he selects her. That will turn out to be the best mistake he ever made.
At first, Cassie turns out to be great. She is fun and not looking for anything serious. But then she begins to talk about her ex and turns into a hot mess. Ted tries to leave the situation, but Cassie then gets fired from her dream job via phone call. Being the nice guy, Ted asks if she would like to go to the dining room for dinner. Things get even more awkward when he finds out Cassie parents are in the dining room and stick him with the bill.
Ted does run into Sophia, who is with Cassie’s ex. He also bumps into Grace, but decides to stick with Cassie. If Ted had chosen one of the other women, he may not have ever met the “Mother,” and this show would never have been the same. Viewers should thank Ted for being such a stand up guy or Cassie for being such a crazy chick; otherwise we would have had nothing to watch for the last 9 years.
Elsewhere, Barney and Robin have run into ANOTHER wedding problem. Their minister has decided to not marry them. After speaking with Lily (Alyson Hannigan), who has been underused this season, he has found out that Barney and Robin have lied to him about how they first met. The couple used Lily and Marshall’s (Jason Segel) encounter as their own. I did enjoy watching the actors switch roles in two different scenarios where Smulders is Lily, Harris is Marshall, Hannigan is Robin, and Segel is Barney. Seeing the direction the actors went with these characters shows their depth as comedic actors.
In order to get the minister to agree to marry them, Barney and Robin decide to let everything about their relationship come to light, no matter how obscene it may be. All of the seediness is too much for the minister and he dies right then and there. Now the couple has less than 48 hours to find someone to marry them. And the drama for Ted continues because the dead minister is Cassie’s uncle!
As for Marshall, he is still en route to Farhampton. He spent the entire episode figuring out how to break the news to Lily that he accepted the judgeship and does not want to move. Unfortunately for him, Daphne (Sherri Shepherd) texts Lily the news. Quite the cliffhanger!
