Jim Gaffigan’s Chatbot is Here and It Demands Snacks

Comedian Jim Gaffigan is releasing his own Chatbot known as Jimbot this week. It will be released through the Facebook’s Messenger App. Jimbot promises to make users feel like they are communicating directly with the comedian. Jimbot will be launched to coincide with Jim Gaffigan’s Noble Ape Tour which kicks off this week in Los Angeles. Jimbot was created by BOT1 a humorbot creator and start up company.

What is a Chatbot

Chatbots are interactive computer programs typically used to get news or sports updates. Some are more complex than others. Jimbot is one of the first comic chatbots. It will provide an interactive conversation with Jimbot created by Jim Gaffigan. It doesn’t plan to be very complex but will be entertaining.

What can we expect from Jimbot

While the choices of pre-made discussions are limited, uses of Jimbot will be treated to “interaction” with the comedian. Jimbot will provide users with Jim Gaffigan’s typical deadpan, self-deprecating humor and snarkiness. As with Jim Gaffigan’s humor, we can expect Jimbot to discuss food, particularly snacks. His “everyman” approach to comedy has made a successful career and has won him 2 Best Comedy Album Grammy awards in 2013 and 2015. Jim is from Illinois and got his start comedy start doing stand up in Chicago and New York City. He draws much of his comedy from his own life with his wife, actress Jeannie, and their five children. The family of 7 only recently moved into a suburban home after living in a 2 bedroom apartment in New York City.

While working in advertising, Gaffigan took acting classes at night. Inspired by David Letterman and Bill Murray, Gaffigan was drawn to their brand of comedy. He is not only a successful comedian, Gaffigan has appeared in several television commercials, films including “Away We Go ” and “17 Again”, and television shows including “Law and Order” and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”. He has been successful doing voiceovers in animated comedy including the shows “Bob’s Burgers” and “WordGirl”. From 2005 to 2008, Gaffigan created a series of shorts entitled “Pale Face” that appeared on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien”. A true family man, Gaffigan brings his family with him on tour and never works on Sundays.
