In the 1930s there were a number of summer camps in the USA run by the Nazis which taught Nazi ideology to the campers and raised funds for the Nazi Party.
The best-known was Camp Siegfried, in Yaphank on New York’s Long Island.

This creepy historical fact is personal to my immediate family.
In 1774 during Lord Dunmore’s War on the Shawnee and Mingo natives men from my maternal grandfather’s family fought for Dunmore against my paternal grandmother’s Shawnee family. There is even a statue in Point Pleasant, WV commemorating it.
