There are two prime time cartoon shows that I think will be analyzed long after they are gone. Not only because of the influence and observational dominance they had but because it’s extremely difficult to catch every nuance, subtlety, and under the radar reference the show’s use. The first show is The Simpsons. The Simpsons universe is so giant and so wide that I think it will take at least 50 years to get through each and every episode to decipher all of the meanings.
The other show is South Park. People seem to forget that South Park is still humming along after 20 seasons and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down. South Park, like the Simpsons has an obscene amount of references and under the radar jokes that we can’t possibly pick up in each episode upon first watch.
Facts like this will be coming out for years but in the interest of your fun weekend, here are another 19 things you didn’t know about South Park.
