Gossip Girl 3.03 “The Lost Boy” Recap

GOSSIP GIRLAt the auction, Bree and Nate are making their very public debut, making out for the paparazzi.

Serena meets up with Blair, and Serena admits that Blair was right about Carter. ‘Some guys just are who they are,’Blair says, half referring to Chuck. Blair goes inside and Chuck tells Serena the same thing, referring only to Carter. Serena informs him that Blair just said the same thing–about him.

Inside, Scott spots his mother, there to see him before telling Rufus the truth. She tells him she just wants to be there for him and stand beside him.

The bidding starts on the infamous photograph, and Blair and Chuck immediately start bickering, naturally. A lot of fast talking, both on the couple’s part and the auctioneer’s part, and… SOLD to number 915. ‘What?!’Blair and Chuck turn around and it’s… Serena?

Dan and Georgina find Rufus and he’s confused by Georgina’s presence. ‘You might remember me as Sarah, but it’s nice to see you again…’she says. He’s even more confused. But they tell him they think Scott’s dangerous, just as Vanessa comes over and tells them Scott just needs to talk to Rufus. Scott and his mother join the group and Scott tells him he’s his son…’s brother. Guess he had a change of heart.

Somehow, Serena figured out that it was Blair and Chuck setting up Carter all along. The two come clean. Blair was just trying to protect Serena, and Chuck just doesn’t like the guy. Chuck says he knows Carter hasn’t changed because he was in and out of hotels all across Greece, and only came home when he was broke. Serena sighs, and finally tells the Santorini story. She was looking for her dad and found out he was getting remarried in Santorini. Carter told her he had access to a boat, but actually he just stole one. The police picked them up, and Carter promised to make it up to her. Looks like he trekked across Greece himself searching for the guy. Blair asks if they found him, but Serena just says she has to go and runs off. As the camera pans a few feet over, Bree appears to have overheard the whole tale, and looks suspiciously interested.

Blair catches up with Serena, and Serena gives her the photograph, telling her she knows what she has to do with it. So Blair goes back to Chuck to hand over the photo, leaving her now useless Le Table Elitaire invitation behind. Serena picks it up, and ‘You’ve got to be kidding me,’she declares as she storms off to Georgina. Apparently Georgina set the whole thing up, and Serena recognized her signature ‘G’on the invitation. Serena threatens her within an inch of her life, assuring her that if she goes after Blair, Serena will be right there with Blair to fight back.

Serena meets Dan outside the auction and suggests that they leave. He wants to go get Georgina first, but Serena tells him she already left with a headache. The Humphrey-van der Woodson crew all pile into the limo, just as Georgina walks outside looking for Dan, left behind.

Chuck arrives at his follow-up meeting with the ultra-important businessman that started this whole photograph mess, and looks like he figured out the Georgina trap too. He calls the receptionist out on it, and she tells him ‘Georgie’s an old friend.’When the businessman comes out to meet Chuck, Chuck hands him the photo and tells him that when his lease at the Empire Hotel isn’t renewed later in the year, he can thank little miss smartass.

Scott leaves to go back home with his parents, Vanessa cries, and tries to make him promise to come back and tell Rufus and Lily the truth someday, but he says he can’t make that promise. So Vanessa’s stuck with the burden of this massive secret.

Serena tells Dan the whole story of Georgina’s antics against Chuck and Blair, so Dan tells Georgina that they should cool off, maybe take a break, despite her excuses and rationalizations. She deletes her computer background picture of her and Dan (creepy), packs her bag for a train to Boston.

Serena finally gets a hold of Carter, and turns out he knew it was Blair and Chuck all along. He forgives her, and they eat breakfast with the whole family.

Chuck takes Blair to the Empire Hotel, and tells her he’s buying it. He cashed out all of his stock in his father’s company and is taking a risk on an entire hotel, all because Blair believed in him.

As Carter is leaving Serena’s, Bree pops her head out of limo and tells him the family will be thrilled to hear that he’s in town, and that it will be the ticket to get her back in with the family. She tells him to go ahead and run, ‘You know how daddy likes to hunt.’

‘Anyone want to start the bidding on what happens next? Going once, going twice… XOXO, Gossip Girl.’
