When talking about Seinfeld it’s usually best to be careful because you might wind up offending a lifelong fan. But then to be quite honest the show has been throwing some serious shade on certain aspects of life for years. It’s important to recognize that it’s all done in fun and that a sense of humor is absolutely needed to understand some of it. Seinfeld is not the typical comedy since it is a bit dark at times and undeniably sarcastic. But take a look at the show really and you might see that they throw some serious disrespect at several aspects of life that you might not always find so humorous.
Keep an open mind, a lot of it is funny, but it does manage to disrespect a lot of people.
5. The medical field
Doctor’s aren’t really shown in the greatest light in Seinfeld. A lot of them don’t seem to have the bedside manner of a brick and others just don’t seem to care about anything other than getting the patient out of the exam room. To be fair in this episode Elaine is anything but pleasant even when she’s smiling, so it’s kind of understandable why the doctors would toss her from person to person like a game of hot potato.
4. Deli service
Be nice to the people serving your food. Don’t quibble with them, it’s their place of business and they have the right to refuse you for any reason they’d like. They might understand that you can go anywhere you want, but their hospitality is really based upon their customers as well as their need for business. In the case of the Soup Nazi, horrible name, he is the boss, the cook, and the lord of the kitchen. If you don’t like that, then no soup for you!
3. Car rentals
Car rental places frustrating, everyone gets that. But to mock them isn’t just disrespectful it’s ignorant in a way that only a person who doesn’t know anything about customer service would do. Yes, they do make mistakes, and yes, it is very irritating to not get a car you had reserved. But guess what? Just like any other business they can and might refuse you service and simply refund your money. It’s bad business, but so is letting someone stomp all over you.
2. Religion
Christians are weirdos seems to be the feeling in this clip, but once again it’s all a matter of perspective and having a thick enough skin to put up with it. The show might poke a bit of fun at Christianity here and there but for the most part it’s gags and jokes. But it does paint Christians in kind of a dubious light that a lot of people might take the wrong way.
1. Human emotions
Ever notice how everything is sarcasm, one-liners, and snappy comebacks? There’s hardly ever a real human emotion in the show that the characters seem to understand. In fact it almost seems like they go out of their way to avoid them. In real life the actors aren’t really this way, but on the show it’s almost like they’re walking witticisms that can talk.
If this offended any Seinfeld fans I’m sorry. It’s all a matter of perspective and opinion though, and the fact that everything’s supposed to be funny.
