Kimberley Michelle Pate is better known by her stage name K. Michelle. She is a singer, songwriter, and television personality who was born in Memphis, Tennessee. The genres of music which she performs are R&B and soul. Her first charted single was ‘Fakin’It” which featured Missy Elliott and was released in 2009. She has since gone on to establish a successful career in the music industry. Despite her growing fame, there are probably many things you do not know about this talented artist. 1. She Can Yodel
An unusual talent that K. Michelle can boast she possesses is that she can yodel and this talent was once very useful to the artist. When she was auditioning for a place at Florida A&M University, she yodeled during the audition and this led to her earning a music scholarship. She graduated from university with honors and was offered places at several law schools but decided that she wanted to pursue a career in the music industry instead.
2. She Was in a Reality Series Called ‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’
Michelle already had three charting singles under her belt when she was added to the cast of ‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’, a VH1 reality series. Appearing in this series helped her to advance her career in the music industry as It led to her signing a record deal with Atlantic Records. It was with this label that she released her debut album ‘Rebellious Soul’ in 2013. She later released three further albums; ‘Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart?’ in 2014, ‘More Issues Than Vogue in 2016, and ‘Kimberley: The People I Used to Know’ in 2017.
3. She Has Her Own Reality TV Series
VH1 made an announcement in March 2014 that revealed K. Michelle was getting her own reality series called ‘K. Michelle: My Life’. The series covered all aspects of the singer’s life, including her music career, her family life, and her friendships. The series premiered on November 3, 2014, and ran for three seasons. Although the series was successful, K. Michelle used social media to tell her fans that the third season was her final one.
4. K. Michelle Has a Son
Michell has a son who was born while she was at Florida A&M University. Her son was born in September 2004 and she stopped attending her classes for a short period to concentrate on looking after her newborn son. However, she later returned to complete college. Although she has not publicly named the father of her child, it is known that he married her sorority sister. K.Michelle was a member of the Sigma Theta sorority.
5. She is an Award Winner
As a talented artist, K. Michelle has been nominated for multiple awards throughout her career. Between 2014 and 2016, she was nominated for four BET Awards. However, this is an award she is yet to receive. In 2013, She won the Soul Train Music Award for Best New Artist. She then won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding New Artist in 2014.
