Poor E. He just can’t help digging himself into a deeper and deeper hole. As the episode’s title suggests, he’s a perpetual liar, and is perhaps doomed to suffer failed relationships because of his inability to just he honest and tell the truth. In fact, the only time he does tell the truth is when it won’t work in his favor.
The episode opens with Drma’s makeout scene with Jamie Lynn. Vince and Turtle look on, but Turtle is very uncomfortable, thinking that the scene might change his whole perception of his girlfriend. Eric soon shows up on set, and tells them that he’s had a rough night as a result of accidentally calling his girlfriend Sloan instead of her real name, Ashley. He told her she was hearing things, but she didn’t believe him.
The time finally arrives for Turtle to go to college, and Vince accompanies him, while E goes to try and reconcile with Ashley. Drama is left alone, something we know that will not bode well for himself and everyone else.
E’s not the only one who had a rough night. Ari wakes up on the couch to his son’s stares. Realizing he can’t take it anymore, Ari goes into his bedroom and begs for Mrs. Ari’s forgiveness, promising on his knees never to lie again. He humorously reveals to his wife that there are photos of him getting teabagged that he’s never told anyone about, and she cracks and forgives him. They start to make up romantically, but little Jonah walks in and interrupts them, telling the kissing couple that they’re “gross.”
Meanwhile, E tries to make up with Ashley, apologizing for calling her Sloan. She angrily asks him if he’s slept with Sloan since he’s been seeing Ashley, and he earnestly tells her no, saying that he hasn’t seen her since the premiere. Honestly, I don’t know why he lied here. It’s not like it would have made a huge difference if he just told Ashley the truth here. She seems reasonable enough to believe him. However, she buys into his white lie, and they have sex before E has to go to his meeting.
Drama, meanwhile, becomes jealous when an executive notorious for womanizing invites Jamie Lynn out to lunch. As Jamie Lynn leaves to prepare for the “business meeting,” Drama questions the exec, asking him if he’s still seeing “that chick from Lost. The executive humorously replies that he left her before the Island did. (Any guesses? Leave them in the comments section below.)
Meanwhile, all is not well at the agency. Marlo Klien shows up ranting and raving at Ari’s agency, confronting every woman she sees and asking if she’s the “slut” who her husband was cheating on her with. Ari tries to calm her down, but it proves very difficult; Marlo wonders aloud if Ari’s trying to protect Andrew because they’re in “some weird threesome.” Ari finally convinces her to leave, but she does so haughtily. Ari orders Lloyd to get Lizzy and Andrew in his office immediately.
After sex with Ashley, E steps into the shower before his meeting. While he’s in there, Ashley hears his phone ringing, and sees that the call is from Sloan. After the phone stops ringing, she hears Sloan’s voicemail, which reveals that Eric had indeed seen Sloan the previous day. Ashley leaves angrily, ignoring E’s requests for a towel.
Meanwhile, Vince and Turtle go to the campus, where Turtle is surprised that he is recognized by his peers. Vince is recognized, too. While he takes a call from Johnny about the executive, he is eyed over by an attractive student, who offers to “hang out” with him until their next class. Vince eagerly agrees.
Lloyd finally finds Lizzy and Andrew, and Ari angrily fires them once they are in his office. Lizzy insists that she’s broken it off with Andrew, and is quite annoyed by his pleas for love, snappily telling him to “grow up.” Ari unfires Lizzy with a warning, and convinces Andrew to go back to his wife, because he knows she will give him a second chance.
E calls Ashley asking why she left, but she replies with a simple “F off,” and hangs up, confusing E. He talks briefly with Steve Nash, who is sharing the waiting room with him, before he is called into his job interview by Murray.
Meanwhile, the student is trying to convince Vince to make a sex tape, but calls from Drama keep interrupting, because Drama’s worried that he’ll have lost Turtle’s girlfriend. This is one of the few times Drama isn’t selfish, and it’s a great side of him to see. Vince soon agrees to make the sex tape, even though he continues to take calls from Drama. Am I the only one who thinks that this won’t be the last we hear of this scandal waiting to happen?
Meanwhile, at the interview, Eric expresses his fears that he’s being hired just because Vince is his client, but Murray assures him this isn’t the case. Murray then hires E, telling him that he can start on Monday.
Meanwhile, back at the set, Drama is becoming progressively worried about Jamie Lynn (with no help from his possibly malicious co-stars, who are egging him on), and keeps forgetting his lines. He eventually takes off in a golf cart to find her, even though she’s actually pacing right behind him. Riding to the executive’s office, he interrupts a meeting and confronts the executive. The executive soon admits that he has intentions to seduce Jamie Lynn, and Drama reacts angrily, slamming him up against the wall. The executive tells Drama that he’ll have him written off the show.
In the closing scene of the episode, Eric goes to see Ashley, and she reveals that she knows he’s lying to her about seeing Sloan. He admits that he was, and she asks him if he still has feelings for her. After spending so much time lying, E decides to tell the truth and admits that he does still have feelings for Sloan, prompting Ashley to close the door in his face, leaving him standing on her doorstep forlornly.
