Duck Dynasty Season 7 Episode 10 Review: “Sweet Home Louisiana”

Duck Dynasty

Well it’s here again, ladies and gentlemen. Another season finale of Duck Dynasty is in the books, and another 10 episodes of the Robertson family antics has made us laugh and cry. All in all, it was a wonderfully done show.

On this week’s finale: Jep was in recovery from having a pretty serious seizure, so his family took it upon themselves to help him finish moving and get settled into his new house. Jase, Godwin, Martin, and Si went to get Jep a special gift, and then get his big screen TV. Willie, Alan, and Phil go to the storage locker(s) to get Jep’s meat smoker, and the ladies of the house help decorate and get settled.

One of the best things about the Robertsons and Duck Dynasty is how it can turn something negative, like a seizure, into something positive. The family rallied around Jep, and even though it inconvenienced them and created some antics, it was still all done for the love of their own. To watch Jep’s wife get emotional about the response to Jep’s seizure, and to see his family and friends rally around him was just a beautiful thing, and reminds me why I love the Robertson family.

I love the box that was marked “Jep’s toys” in the storage locker. Sure, Willie, Alan and Phil made fun, but it also sends a powerful message. It shows that being a “nerd” and never totally “growing up” is really okay, and the people who love you will love you anyway. I loved watching Phil watch Willie play with the lightsaber, and Phil picking up the “ninja sticks”.

At the auction, when Jase got Jep a t-shirt, there was a HILARIOUS moment in which Si dropped some kind of pottery that shattered all over the floor. It broke, and everyone got dead quiet, and it was just hilarious to see the look on Si’s face. You can always count on Si for a good laugh or two, and this was no exception.

Perhaps my favorite moment was at the end, when Phil showed everyone the tree he planted in Jep’s yard. The series has made excellent use of Phil this season. I got a little teary-eyed knowing that Jep’s kids would grow up with that tree in their yard that their grandfather planted. It’s really a beautiful use of nature and a great family story.

All in all, it was a wonderful end to the season on the Duck Dynasty front. One last time, here are my favorite quotes from the episode:

(After Jep wakes up in the hospital) Phil: “Did you see a light?”

Jep: “No.”

Phil: “You may have a problem”

“Of all the things men care about, decorations are not on the list”- Jase, speaking the truth.

“I ain’t got time to take you to decorating school”- Si, trying to explain Feng Shui (or Funk Shooey).

“A couple of them are normal. Fifty percent. I can live with it”- Phil, on the rate at which his children reached normalcy.

“This place has a lot of weird stuff, Jep’s weird, it’s a cant miss!”- Jase, on the auction house.

All in all the Duck Dynasty finale was heartwarming, funny, and well done all around. I have no shame in admitting that I loved this episode. Another great season in the books, duck hunters. Here’s to many more!
