LaGuerta gets home to find her husband waiting for her. He asks her why she’s so late and she says it’s because budgets are due at the end of the month. She gets in the shower and he checks her phone, only to find texts from McCourt telling her where and when to meet the next day. He thinks his suspicions have been confirmed.
Dexter goes to meet Lumen at her hotel room the next day, but a woman outside tells him that she left and was heading for the bridge. He knows he needs to get there before she does something she’ll regret. She has a gun and is about to shoot Brunner when Dexter interferes and grabs the gun from her just in time. He explains to her that Brunner is not the guy she’s looking for. She breaks down and says she just wants to feel better and for everything to go away. He tells her to go home to her family and put this behind her and warns her that it will only get worse if she doesn’t, which he knows from experiencing his own traumatic event. She says she’ll go and they leave the bridge.
The cop that Deb has been working with came up with a list of names of people who also frantically took the maximum amount from an ATM, so they set out to talk to those people. The first house they check out is infested with bugs, and smells raunchy when they kick open the door. It only gets worse once they get to the bedroom and find two rotting corpses infested with bugs.
Batista decides to show up at the time and place McCourt told LaGuerta to meet. He sees them inside the hotel room and busts in. However, it turns out that they’re involved in a sting, not an extramarital affair. They begin to fight about it when they get the call that Deb needs them at the house where they found the dead bodies. Dexter and Masuka have already checked it out by the time they arrive, and they believe that these may be the first victims of the Fuentes brothers, or the “training wheels kill” as Deb puts it. A billboard across the street catches her eye, and she realizes that what they had believed to be a tattoo was actually a stamp from a nightclub.
Dexter takes Lumen to the airport to see her off. He finally tells her his full name, but refuses to let her pay him back for the ticket. He tells her that she can call him anytime if she needs to talk about what happened to her, and she thanks him before heading through the security checkpoint. She sets off the metal detector and security has to do a hand-search on her. While the security officer is patting her down, she begins to breath heavily, experiences blurred vision and does all she can to not cry or pass out. Finally, it’s over.
Quinn is at a bar, where he buys an old friend some drinks and asks a favor of him; he needs someone to look into Dexter, and his friend agrees. The walls may soon be closing in on Dexter.
The episode ends with Lumen getting into a cab and her driver welcoming her to Miami. That’s right – she never left.
