According to Boca Raton PD, officers and paramedics rushed to a residence on Monday, January 13, 2020 after receiving a 911 call regarding a potential drug overdose. Tyler G reportedly locked himself in a bathroom and was found unresponsive at the scene. He was then taken to a hospital where he was admitted to the ICU. On June 23, 2020, TMZ were the first to report that Gwozdz had passed away. Although the specific cause of the alleged OD is unknown, a woman told dispatchers during the 911 call that heroin may have been the culprit.

In the wake of this tragic news, producers of ABC’s The Bachelorette released a statement. It wrote: “We are heartbroken to hear the tragic news of Tyler’s passing today. Our thoughts are with the Gwozdz family and his friends.” Also, Bachelor Nation’s Luke Stone, a fellow contestant and close friend of Gwozdz took to his Twitter page (now X) to honor him. He wrote: “I lost one of my closest friends today. Tyler I’ll miss you every day, miss our hours long conversations about nonsense over the phone, miss how damn funny you were. I had so much happiness and joy for what the future held for us as friends. I love you man, so much.”
