The competition heats up as twenty more acts compete for a spot in the second Top 7 on tonight’s America’s Got Talent. DJ Khaled is the guest judge this week.
Some of the acts tonight, much like the ones from the first round of judge cuts, did not step up their game. Joku the piano playing chicken barely played a few notes. Her sister tried to help, but both chickens just stood in front of their instruments, getting four X’s from the judges. The Quiddlers were amusing dressing up as the judges, but their performance tonight just didn’t wow me as it did the first time. The secret to their act is out, that’s why it felt like watching an ameteur act the second time around. Jr. and Emily’s dance routine tonight felt similar to what they did before and it was far too short.
A couple of the singers tonight didn’t quite step up their game either. Sammulous did a great job, but he wasn’t able to make it to the Top 7. The same with Dakota Striplin’s rendition of an Elvis Presley classic. The song choice was perfect, but the overall performance wasn’t good enough to earn him a spot in the Top 7. Singers Evie Clair, Yoli Mayor, Puddles the Clown, Chase Goehring (who ended up being DJ Khaled’s golden buzzer) and Mirror Image also land themselves a spot in the top seven.
When the magicians came onstage, I thought for sure that a couple of them would be in the Top 7. Imagine my surprise when Colin Cloud is the only one who made it through. I loved Xavier Mortimer’s act with the mirror and Kyle’s act with the ripped up playing card. Though Colin’s act was truly amazing. He was able to get into the minds of Mel B and Howie. The latter was even able to unlock Cloud’s phone. If I ever get the chance, I want to pick Cloud’s brain.
Side Notes:
I loved the part where Heidi and Howie got swung around on a large log. Heidi’s mic pack ended up falling out and dangled in the air as she was being spun around the stage.
When Simon said to the Quiddler dressed up as him that he wants to take the latter home with him, I was like: a little too much self-love there, Simon Cowell!
