This week on Marvel’s Agent Carter, stories took several steps forward, and lot of secrets were revealed, as Peggy discovers the villain living next door to her and the S.S.R. learns Peggy’s big secret in a what was a very straight-forward episode.
We now only have two episodes left in Agent Carter‘s first (and hopefully not last) season, so things definitely had to speed up a bit. After Sousa started to piece together the final puzzle pieces of the mysterious blond woman, he, along with the other agents of the S.S.R., come after Peggy as they now know she has been helping Stark this whole time. I didn’t expect the whole chase to have both dramatic AND comedic tones to it, because the minute you put on some typical 40’s music and start fighting, it just becomes hilarious.
Seeing Peggy reunite again with Jarvis was great, because that duo has been spot on ever since they first met. Although it didn’t seem like the conflict between the two of them was completely resolved just yet, that might be something they will explore further when/if the show gets a second season. Regardless, seeing them trying to track down this Russian female soldier amongst some of Stark’s one-night stands was hilarious, mostly because Jarvis was the one that had to take all the beating.
We also got to spend more time with Dottie, although whenever she is not in her undercover-voice, she is awfully quiet, which kind of makes me disappointed because I want Bridget Regan to do more than just cool fight moves. We did learn, however, that the Russian psychologist was, in fact, working with her for Leviathan, but I still feel that I know very little about this organization and what it is that they want. That has actually been one of the bigger problems with Agent Carter over the course of these latest episodes: a lack of clarity.
Thankfully, Angie did more than just knock on doors this week, as she was a part of one of the funniest scenes of the whole episode. When Thompson and Sousa were looking for Peggy and asking Angie questions, she got the opportunity to show off her acting skills as she made up a story about Peggy’s sick grandma. She began to cry hysterically and made everyone so uncomfortable that they left very quickly. Touches like that made the whole chase for Peggy both intense but generally hilarious because of the methods.
However, the hero sadly did get taken when Dottie kissed Peggy using her knockout-lipstick, and seconds later, before Dottie could kill her, Peggy was arrested by the S.S.R. agents. Did anyone else feel like in those final shots when Peggy stared at Dottie that Dottie almost wanted her to get taken by S.S.R. as part of some bigger plan? All I know right now is that I need next week’s episode as soon as humanly possible, and overall, “A Sin To Err” was a solid episode that speed up the pacing as we are reaching the end of the season.
