Nate Boyer is the guy behind Kultured Kustoms and he appears on the new show “Gear Dogs that is on the Discovery channel. He may be the biggest car fan on the planet and the new show will feature the cas that have been restored at his shop. He loves taking on new projects and he’s pretty good at turning a profit, but here are five things that you didn’t know about him.
1. Coolfire studios went to Nate
Nate was happily going about his life when the executives from the studio approached him about the concept for the new show “Gear Dogs.” They pitched the idea to Discovery because they thought it would be a popular topic and there really wasn’t another show like it on the air. Discovery saw the potential for success and the rest was history. Boyer and “The Doghouse” which is a community garage that is set aside as space for weekend mechanics, have something pretty cool going on and it was something that Coolfire Studios execs believed had promise.
2. He has a heart for people
Nate had humble beginnings and had to work his way up to the position that he is in now. He knows what it is to struggle and acquire equipment one piece at a time. Although he owns some pretty high end stuff now, it hasn’t always been that way. It is because of his understanding of this that he opens the Dog House for weekend mechanics who want to come and turn a wrench to build their dream cars. He offers car lovers the work area, tools and his vast expanse of knowledge in pursuing their dreams.
3. He is a barterer
It’s cool to watch the show and see the customizations take shape, but there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes. Nate Boyer doesn’t just do a cash for supplies and equipment exchange. He trades parts and labor in order to get a cut in profits from the sales that are made. He’s not only talented in building, he also has a keen business sense. Boyer knows how to broker deals and make things happen to build an empire.
4. Nate is under 30
Nate Boyer is only 29 years old. He’s built his business customizing American classic cars in a short span of time. Many mechanics and restoration professionals only wish that they were having the success that he has already achieved. He has a knack for restoring old vehicles so they look just like they did when they were brand new, that is unless there is a demand for some really cool customizations. He can do that too.
5. Boyer is an inspiration for working class people
The doghouse is still in its early stages of development, but there is a lot of interest in the garage by people within the car community. Boyer is merging this business with his already successful Kultured Customs, but there is no certainty that the joint effort will pay off. He’s taking a gamble that it will. From all appearances he has a better than average chance, particularly with the new television series that will get the information out to the right people. The mechanics, referred to as “dawgs” who will be using his space, tools and assistance have to pass the strict criteria that he has set in order to be eligible. The car lovers who tinker around as weekend mechanics are about to become inspired by the series as it shows working class people that anything is possible if your put forth and effort and are willing to take a chance now and then.
