Okay, before you all start with the whole “She can’t do this by herself!” or “It’s not the same thing without a co-host sitting beside her,” just hear me out. If the show can’t find a suitable co-host for Kelly Ripa, then maybe they should let her host the show on her own.
She can do what other talk show hosts are doing and incorporate games with the celebrity guests. That and she can do those exercise, food and animal segments on her own as well. Late-night hosts like Jimmy Fallon, Conan O’Brian, and Jimmy Kimmel have done it so why can’t she? I know it’s not the format that we are familiar with, but she can look to Oprah, Queen Latifah, Wendy Williams and Ellen DeGeneres for inspiration. The show is Live with Kelly, so it’s only logical, right?
I am aware that there is a list of possible candidates, but I believe that Kelly Ripa can handle herself. She knows how the show works and how to ask the right questions. Plus, the woman has a team of producers and other staff members around to help her. Maybe she can interact with them more and involve them in segments where they do things they wouldn’t normally do. I’d love to see either a writer or a producer go out of their comfort zones a little bit.
On the other hand, if Kelly wants to stick with the whole finding a permanent co-host thing, that’s her choice. If that’s the case, then I think Jerry O’Connell is the perfect candidate. He gets along smoothly with Kelly and is willing to make a fool of himself on national television. He even helps the trivia callers out by taking his time with asking the question. Her husband, Mark Consuelos, is also a good candidate, but the whole husband and wife team might get old after a while. It’s been months since Michael Strahan allegedly blindsided her to co-host Good Morning America full-time. To reiterate, either she makes a decision on who she wants as her co-host as soon as possible, or she can go solo, that is all.
