The Mindy Project 3.04 Review: “I Slipped”

Last night’s The Mindy Project was equal parts surprising and hilarious.  We’ve seen Mindy and Danny bicker before, but a misunderstanding in the bedroom leads to their first fight.

Mindy knows better than to gossip in the office about every aspect of her relationship and I have to give her credit for only confiding in Peter.  Based off of Danny’s not-so-accidental-after-all “slip” Mindy feels like she’s boring in bed compared to the women in his past if that’s what he’s used to.  It was mildly off-putting that Danny assumed she was into things like that to begin with.  She stood up for herself against his borderline shaming in their ophthalmologist friend’s office after it was obvious this was no mistake due to Danny’s vision.

After taking notes from Peter’s demonstrations with a skeleton, Mindy still doesn’t feel comfortable so she goes so far as to drug herself with sedatives for Danny’s sake which is where the actual funniest storyline of the night comes in.

Morgan had just graduated nurse practitioner school so now he can write prescriptions.  By the way, I felt so bad that no one besides Tamra attended his ceremony and pizza party after since he considers all of his co-workers his best friends.  Mindy butters Morgan up by presenting him with the framed photo of her and her dad as a graduation gift, which Morgan loved and claimed it was exactly what he wanted.  Without going into too much detail, she asks him to write a prescription for her.

When she takes the drug at Danny’s apartment, she was immediately feeling it.  She insisted they listen to the blues (“I love that stuff. Really complain-y like.  I like it better than Taylor Swift.”), drink Scotch (“mmm, yuck”) and make it Danny’s night in general.  While he was in the bathroom starting his Waterpik routine, she was sending Morgan super friendly texts.  Proposing they should hang out more and even go on a vacation together.  Morgan’s “Me cry joy now” response to the vacation idea cracked me up!  Now that needs to happen.  Even if it’s a weekend getaway to Atlantic City, a Mindy and Morgan adventure is a must!

Tension in the workplace between everyone on #TeamPeter and Jeremy, who stands alone in his defense, is becoming a problem.  Morgan steps in to set the guys up, Parent-Trap style.  All this does is result in Jeremy accidentally burning off Peter’s eyebrows.  I’m actually more sympathetic for Jeremy in this situation because he never meant for the attraction between him and Lauren to go anywhere.  It also seems like since Peter got hired at the practice last year, he’s been in more scenes than Jeremy.

What was your favorite part of the episode?
