Young and the Restless fans know that not every new character really works out around here, and there is nothing wrong with that. You live, you learn, and you win some, and you lose some. That’s what happens in television, and sometimes you just roll with the punches. Fortunately, those punches don’t often include our favorite characters, but they do come with some of the lesser names and people who don’t work out. When a new character is brought it, it’s with the hope that they will bring something to the show that will wow their audience and keep people tuning in. Sometimes that works (hello, Victor Newman) and sometimes, it does not work. We’re checking out all the times it did not work today. These people came and then they went almost as fast as they showed up, and for very good reasons.
Sabrina Newman
Genoa City didn’t need her, and that was obvious when she showed up back in the day. She was here to spend some time wit her best friend in the world, Victoria Newman. There were some fans who might have thought that the storyline that brought her here would have her turning into someone who was a long-lost sister or a husband stealer and it was the second option that come true. She ended up spending some time with her best friend Vickie only to decide that her life goal was to break up Vickie’s mom and dad and marry her father. That was not the best option. She did it, though. She ended up seducing her best friend’s father, marrying him, and breaking up their family. It’s safe to say that Vickie was not interested in being the maid of honor in that wedding. It didn’t work out for her, though, because she wasn’t a fan favorite even when she was going to produce her ex-best friend and current stepdaughter with a new baby brother or sister. She was pregnant and dead in a car accident in no time at all.
Juliet Helton
Her entire situation was a mess. She came into town in 2017 with no real anything to make it seem plausible. She got a job working with Brash and Sassy, and she managed to get Cane super drunk overseas and managed to get him to knock her up during a one-night stand in which he has no memory. She ended up deciding to let Hilary talk her into filing a lawsuit against him so that Hilary could make Lily — Cane’s wife — miserable. That works, but Juliet ended up collapsing, it turned out she was pregnant, and then she died in childbirth. She wasn’t really there to make any of us happy, and no one really fell for her and her ways. She wasn’t all that likable, so she didn’t work out. It worked out for us a lot more when she was killed off during childbirth, and we are totally all right with the option to do that with her character.
Scott Grainger
Okay, so he was around as a child, but does that even count when most of the fans who saw him as an adult had no idea who he was? It does not. He was back in 2017 for a few months when he was kidnapped as a journalist and brought back to town when Victor decided to rescue him and make him a man who would then write his life story — per his request. Which means it would be a life story of true fiction rather than anything with any honesty. While he was here for a few months, he managed to have affairs with Abby, Sharon, and even Phyllis, which seemed interesting to all of us. When he made the decision to ignore Victor’s desires for a fictional biography, he basically signed his end. He’s been gone for months and no one really seems to care or even notice that he’s gone. We thought he might have a chance with Abby, but that didn’t really work out for him, either. So, he’s out, and no one has asked many questions about it. In fact, it was so recent, yet we don’t really remember what happened.
