Now that Alien: Covenant has been released and the reviews are lukewarm at best, I’m pretty happy that all the hype has died down. Let’s just save that hype for more important movies like Star Wars and shows like Game of Thrones that we’re 99% sure are going to be awesome before the credits role. Alien has been an illusion ever since the sequel that was done by James Cameron. Have you ever seen a franchise hinge so much on the success of its first film? I have not. We get it. It’s a Xenomorph and it’s extremely dangerous but I haven’t seen any evidence of true quality and real original work since the 80s.
However, this won’t stop me from sharing the ludicrous products and projects that are out there that pay homage to the franchise. Today I came across this cakeball recipe. When it comes to Alien-themed treats, desserts like this series from Christine McConnell might be outside the reach of mere mortals. Rosanna Pansino’s Alien Cake Balls, on the other hand, are fun and fairly easy to make.
