Five Hilarious Athlete TV Cameos

We’re not totally sure what makes an athlete who’s good at playing sports think that they’re talented enough to crossover and try their hand at acting, but, as we’ve seen for a long time, it just continues to happen. Sure, some athletes do a decent job at it–like Peyton and Eli Manning–but some of the others should keep practicing in front of the mirror. Regardless of being good or not, here are a few pro players who have made a few TV cameos in the past couple years.

5. Roy Hibbert, Parks and Recreation

Playing in the home state of where the show Parks and Recreation takes place–the fictional, Pawnee, Indiana–it would seem to be an obvious choice as to why Indiana Pacers big man Roy Hibbert appeared on the show. But, in fact, the idea to cast the All-Star center was all his, lobbying hard to get a spot because he’s such a big fan of the show.

4. Chris Bosh, Parks and Recreation

Much like Hibbert, the Heat’s Chris Bosh found himself on the NBC comedy not long ago. And after looking at Chris Bosh’s IMDb page, we found that this dude has actually been credited with 26 different roles as an actor–which, while he’s an eight-time All-Star, is still crazy to us. He may be overshadowed by teammates LeBron James and Dwyane Wade on the floor, but he might have them in TV appearances.

3. Derek Jeter, Seinfeld

For the past 20 years, the New York Yankees’ Derek Jeter has been the absolute “King of New York,” so it’s no wonder that he’d found himself among one of the busiest athletes making cameos. From his days randomly showing up on the long-running comedy Seinfeld, to getting a few appearances in movies like The Other Guys, “The Captain” is rarely shy showing what kind of actor he is.

2. Kobe Bryant, Modern Family

Kobe Bryant is arguably one of the most popular athletes on the planet, so it only makes sense that he’d find himself with a bevy of opportunities to make a cameo whenever he wants to. Not only did he do just that on Modern Family a few years ago, but he also showed his mug on Hang Time and All That a long time ago alongside, who else, the now completely insane, Amanda Bynes.

1. Tom Brady, The Simpsons

As much as every guy might be a tad jealous of the Patriots’ Tom Brady–come on, he has a supermodel wife and three Suer Bowl rings, it’s understandable–his character in the legendary show, The Simpsons, actually proves just how cool this guy is. He may be a millionaire who is a total competitor during the game, but off the field he understands how to have some fun.
