The trailer of the much-awaited Avengers: Infinity War has been released by Marvel. Fans have been waiting for months on the highly-anticipated upcoming entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. An exclusive trailer was released during the D23 Expo and Comic-Con, but it wasn’t released publicly online. This will be the first time that a footage from the film will be available for public viewing.
Four years after the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the Avengers, torn apart after the events of Captain America: Civil War, join forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy to battle Thanos, who is trying to collect the Infinity Stones for a gauntlet that will allow him to inflict his will on all reality. A lot of characters in the MCU since Phase One are expected to appear during the film.
Before the trailer was released, Holland accidentally revealed the teaser poster on his Instagram Live. He was opening a package from Ruffalo, which contains the poster. Then, he read the note saying, “I thought you’d like to be the first to see the poster for the movie. Enjoy, Mark Ruffalo.” However, at the back of the message which was clearly seen by the viewers, it says, “Marvel Studios. Confidential Do Not Share.” He immediately ended the live video upon learning the supposed confidentiality of the poster. Hours later, Marvel officially revealed the teaser poster:
In the trailer (you can watch it below), it started with a voice-over of the purpose of the Avengers which is to “form a group of remarkable people” along with shots of our favorite heroes that we have met before. After that, we see different moments including a battle in the Wakanda jungle, the return of the Hulkbuster, Peter Parker wearing the Iron Spider suit, a full look on Thanos, Black Widow’s new look, Scarlet Witch and Vision (apparently in his human form) in a bedroom looking romantic together, Tony Stark, Doctor Strange, Wong, and Bruce Banner working together, and Thanos trying to remove the Mind Stone from Vision. At the end, we see Thor saying “Who the hell are you guys?” followed by a shot of the Guardians of the Galaxy team.
Besides the fact we see all of our favorite Marvel superheroes from various films working together, some of the moments in the trailer showed some clues about what happened after the recent MCU films like Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok. First is that we see the Winter Soldier readying for a battle in the Wakanda jungle. This answers the question during the mid-credits scene on Captain America: Civil War. Then, there are also moments that answered the cliffhangers in Thor: Ragnarok. We see Bruce Banner out of his Hulk alter-ego on Earth. This raises a question: How did he ended up there after being on the ship full of Asgardians? This goes to the next question, we see Loki walking while holding a tesseract with apparently some dead bodies around him and they look like Asgardians. So, is that the answer to the mid-credits scene in Thor: Ragnarok? Did Thanos’ ship attacked the Asgardians’ ship which resulted to those dead bodies? Also, at the end, we see Thor on the Guardians’ ship. Another question: How did he also ended up there? Is it after the Asgardians’ ship attack? Is he going to be the key on bringing the Avengers and Guardians together? Another question is the moment when we see Scarlet Witch and Vision together looking intimate in a bedroom. The unusual part is that Vision is in his human form. So, how did it happen? Is it because of Thanos “playing” with the infinity gauntlet? These are some of the questions that most of us might possibly have after watching the trailer.
Avengers: Infinity War is directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay, based on the characters from the Marvel comics. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is serving as producer, just like in all MCU entries. The film features a large ensemble cast including Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Tom Holland, and many more.
The film is set to be released in cinemas on May 4, 2018 in IMAX and 3D.
