Hugh Hefner was a famous magazine publisher and businessman who is most typically associated with Playboy magazine. He is also well-known for his flamboyant lifestyle and for being an advocate of the freedom of expression and the sexual liberation. Hefner was born on April 9, 2017, in Chicago, Illinois. He studied at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a double minor in art and creative writing. His first job was at Esquire as a copywriter but he left in January 1952 when they refused to give him a $5 raise. Using investment, loans, and a mortgage, he launched Playboy.
The first issue featured Marilyn Monroe and was published in December 1953. In his personal life, Hefner married three times and also had many long-term partners, many of which overlapped. He also fathered four children. Sadly, Hugh Hefner did at the age of 91 at his Los Angeles home on September 27, 2017. Hugh Hefner had led an exciting life with many different experiences. This was a 2009 documentary film about the life of Hugh Hefner that was directed by Brigitte Berman. Hefner gave the producers considerable access into his life, business and properties to enable them to complete this movie but he had no formal role in the production. In addition to the interviews with Hefner, the film features interviews with many of his close friends and those who have worked with him. These included Dizzy Gillespie, Sammy Davis Jr. George Lucas, Jenny McCarthy, Dick Cavett, Shannon Tweed, and Ruth Westheimer.
2. Sex and the City
‘Sex and the City’ was a romantic comedy television series that was created by Darren Star and based on a book by Candace Bushnell. The series was broadcast from 1998 to 2004. The show starred Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon. In 2000, Hugh Hefner made a cameo appearance in Season 3. Hugh Hefner appeared as himself in the episode where Samantha Jones gets kicked out of a party at the Playboy Mansion after accusing one of Hefner’s girlfriends of stealing her purse.
3. Curb Your Enthusiasm
‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ is an HBO comedy television series that was first aired in 2000. The show was created by Larry Davis and features a fictionalized version of himself. In 2005, Hefner appeared in Season 5 of the series as himself.
4. Entourage
‘Entourage’ is an HBO comedy-drama series that was aired between 2004 and 2011. Doug Ellin was the creator and main writer of the show. It chronicles Vince Chase’s acting career. Chase is played by Adrien Grenier. In a 2005 episode, Vince and his pals attend a party at the Playboy Mansion. In this episode, Hefner appears as himself and throws some of Chase’s pals out.
5. The House Bunny
This 2008 romantic comedy was written by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith and was directed by Fred Wolf. It starred Anna Faris in the leading role of a Playboy bunny who is thrown out of the Playboy Mansion and becomes the house mother of an unpopular university sorority. Hugh Hefner plays himself in the movie.
