The Best Uses of AC/DC Songs in Movies

AC/DC is a band that’s been through a lot of changes, some of them that happened before they even put their first album, but for a long time they’ve been one of the most loved rock and roll bands on the scene and a lot of it has to do with their hard-hitting sound and their ability to get a crowd pumped up. Some have gone on to describe them as heavy metal, but the band has always stated that they’re a rock and roll band, nothing more and nothing less. That kind of self-assurance is just another reason why they’re so great and why people flock to them. It’s the confidence they have that keeps them on everyone’s mind even when those from various generations start to wane in their interest. While not every song is considered to be one of their greatest those on this list are in fact a few that get the most attention.

Here are a few songs that are used heavily in movies.

5. Death Wish – Back in Black

There’s been talk about whether this new version of Death Wish could really hold up to the original since Charles Bronson was after all an icon in his time. Bruce Willis has been an icon throughout the years, but taking on something like this almost makes it seem as though he’s just falling back on old material and wanting to find something safe and assured to continue forward. In truth the movie was very enjoyable and while it obviously deviated from the original it brought it’s own share of thrills and managed to engage the audience on a similar level as anyone might think that they would possibly do the same if their family was attacked in such a manner.

4. The Avengers – Shoot to Thrill

There are a few villains that have slapped Captain America around and gotten away with it, but almost none that have done so when he has backup. On his own Captain America would likely fall before Loki since, well, the guy is a Norse god and is a great deal tougher than even the famed super soldier. But with Iron Man lending assistance Cap’s odds are a lot greater and the fight evens out a bit, at least for a short while. If you notice the music that Iron Man enters to in this film is the same song that he used in Iron Man 2 when he made his appearance in front of a much different audience.

3. Private Parts – You Shook Me All Night Long

Howard Stern has had quite the career and depending on who you ask it’s been a wild one as well. He hasn’t always made friends but he seems to have enjoyed the enemies he’s made and whether this film stayed true to life, which it didn’t according to those that know enough about Stern, it was kind of entertaining to be honest. He seemed like a jerk at some points and a guy just trying to make his way ahead at others. But there were reasons why he was termed a shock jock for so long, he did and said things that just weren’t done by other shows and tended to get noticed for them throughout the years.

2. Battleship – Thunderstruck

This film really didn’t get enough attention in my opinion. It does kind of have a disjointed feel from the moment the main character is arrested and then suddenly in the US Navy commanding his own ship, but when the aliens attack (remember, disjointed) he’s one of the first to step up and take the fight to them, as much as he can. When his brother’s ship and then his own get taken out easily though he has to fall back on old tech and old but experienced sailors to get the job done, and it’s downright inspiring since no matter whether the old battleship could pull off such maneuvers, it made for an epic battle scene.

1. Varsity Blues – Thunderstruck

It doesn’t seem like there was a teen alive in the US that hadn’t seen this film at least once by the time it was finally out of theaters. This was James Van Der Beek at the height of his fame after all, when he was the heartthrob of so many young ladies and could command a lead role such as this with the greatest of ease. In fact this was when Paul Walker had yet to really become the go-to guy for films and was still the fresh-faced younger man that was kind of made into a supporting character despite the fact that he was the starting qb during the film. It might not have revived the typical teenager experience, but it was a lot of fun to watch.

AC/DC is a simple rock band, nothing more and nothing less, and people love them for that.
