In a tantalizing tease, Ausiello said, “Ever wonder how Mikhail lost his right eye? You’re about to find out!” Although he didn’t reveal the specifics, he did mention that “*** knows.”
Ausiello is known for his cryptic clues, often replacing crucial information with asterisks, leaving fans with just a taste of a potentially significant revelation.
Who is the Mysterious ***?
So, who could this mysterious *** be? All signs point to Ben, the former leader of the Others, who seems to know everything about them. It’s highly likely that he would be aware of the circumstances surrounding Mikhail’s eye injury.
However, there’s another possibility: the late Other, Tom Friendly (played by M.C. Gainey). Some fans have theorized that Tom was on the Island since the DHARMA Initiative days, as a background character at the DHARMA motor pool sported a nametag with the name Tom and bore a resemblance to a younger Mr. Friendly. This theory suggests that Tom could be one of the few defectors from DHARMA to the Others, making him a potential candidate for knowing about Mikhail’s eye. Considering Mikhail arrived on the Island in the early 1990s, it’s possible that Tom was aware of his predicament.
