It might be a little early yet to be talking about a Wolverine reboot but should it happen in the next few years Scott Eastwood is ready to throw his hat in the ring to play the legendary character. So what do you think? Would the Eastwood progeny be worthy of the title? He’s certainly got a good look and the kind of build that would be needed, though like Hugh Jackman he seems a bit tall to play the famed mutant. Of course that never stopped Jackman, who nailed the role and kept it going for so many years that by now we can’t imagine anyone else taking on the persona of such a character. But it could be time to move on from Jackman since he already made up his mind about the character.
The great thing about Wolverine, and any character really, is that thanks to Marvel comics’ rather skewed and alternate timelines there exist a lot of different ways by which a character could be brought back, redesigned, or even just looked at from a younger point of view. One thing to keep in mind is that Wolverine is likely getting close to his third century of life by the time he finally checked out. Up until that point he was older than anyone on the X-Men and had seen quite a bit of the world compared to a lot of people in the MCU. Wolverine has a very rich back story that’s filled with insane and undiscovered territory that could allow Eastwood to come in and potentially create new adventures that comic lovers might flip to see.
The battles he’s had with Omega Red for instance, or even the fights he’s had with the Hulk could draw a crowd. Or if it’s a reboot the MCU could delve even further into the dynamic between Wolverine and Sabretooth, since this has been one of the longest-running feuds in Marvel that’s always been good for the amount of action it brings. Wolverine and Sabretooth have been going at each other for a while and it’s safe to say that this is one of the bloodiest and most energetic feuds in the history of Marvel comics. Of course then there’s his time as an Avenger, as well as his numerous run-ins with other superheroes and villains. Wolverine is a character for whom there are a great many possibilities that haven’t even been tapped into yet.
Scott Eastwood is quickly establishing himself as an actor that’s worth looking at for an opportunity when it comes to something great like this. He’s not quite the same caliber as his father, of course a lot of people can’t fully measure up to Clint Eastwood in his prime, but he’s still the kind of guy that shows room for development and could possibly find his time to shine with the right part. He didn’t do too bad in the last Fast and Furious film, and his part in Pacific Rim: Uprising, could possibly endear him to those that might want to explore the possibility of bringing Wolverine back. It could happen.
