Phillip Schofield is a man who has led a fascinating life. The host and presenter has been working a long time in front of the cameras to make his career go further than he ever imagined, but he’s also at the helm of major criticism right now. He’s got a lot going on, and many people want to get to know more about him. If you’re unfamiliar with him, it’s all right. You’re about to get to know him better than you ever imagined, because we have learned more about him than we ever imagined.
1. He’s from England
Born and raised in Oldham is where he is from. Oldham is located in Lancashire, but he didn’t spend his entire life there. He eventually moved with his family to Newquay, which is in Cornwall. Either way, though, he’s English and he’s happy where he is from and where he is living now.
2. He’s in His 50s
He was born on April 1, 1962. He celebrated his 58th birthday at the very beginning of the global pandemic that swept the world in 2020, and we imagine it was not his best birthday celebration to date. The world was locked down, people were not permitted to even leave their homes in many major cities, and everything was a mess.
3. He Knew What He Wanted to Do
When he was only 15, he had his first role in the media world, and he knew this was something he was going to keep trying to do with his life. He took part in something called the Sunday Show. It was part of the Hospital Radio Plymouth. He then spent his time writing letters to the BBC. He did so for years, and he finally got a job when he was 17.
4. He Left England
At the age of 19, he and his family moved from their native England to New Zealand. It was time for him to take a big step in his career there, and it worked for him. He was only 19 at the time, but he was hired to be the initial presenter of a program called “Shazam!” which was a musical situation for the youth of the world.
5. He’s A Married Father of Two
In 1993, he and his longtime lady love decided it was time to get married. They wed in March of that year. Her name is Stephanie Lowe. They were together for a long time prior to getting married, and things worked out well for them for a very long time. They have currently have two daughters and a home in Oxfordshire.
6. He’s Gay
This was a very shocking situation for his fans and followers. It happened in early 2020. He announced that he is a gay man, and that he’s been working with his wife and his daughters to come to terms with the fact that he is a gay man. He’s been married almost 30 years to his wife, and they were together many years before that. We cannot even begin to imagine how much of a shock this information must have been to his wife and his kids.
7. He’s Dealt With Mental Health Issues
Throughout this life, he’s had some issues of his own to deal with. He struggles with mental health issues, and it’s something he talks about in his book. It’s called “Life’s What You Make It,” and he goes through what he’s been through, the difficult times in his life, and so much more. We imagine that keeping the secret that you are gay from everyone in your life for more than 50 years can cause some extreme stress.
8. He’s In Awe of Paramedics
He once joked he was leaving his job on morning television to go into the paramedic field, but he was only kidding. Honestly, though, he has an uncle who worked as a paramedic and he has always been impressed by his skill and abilities. It’s something he has admired about all people who do that kind of work his entire life.
9. He’s Addressed Issues At Work
His Morning cohost is Holly Willoughby, and there has been a lot going on rumor-wise about them for some time. He went through some difficult times at work, with coming out, with his mental health, and with so much more, and he’s taking the time to address those issues. He’s heard the rumors, and he’s not going to allow any more fuel into the fire. There is not a feud between them, and he has never been.
10. He’s a Private Man
He gets onto the television set every single morning and shares stories and a glimpse into his everyday life, but he never shares too much. He’s always made sure that nothing gets out if it’s not time for it to get out, and we love that. He’s a man who has managed to value his privacy despite daily television recordings almost his entire adult life.
