Although the series has received mixed to average reviews from critics since its release, there’s no denying the strength of the Palm Royale cast. It brings some of Hollywood’s most talented stars to one of the most fascinatingly entertaining period comedy dramas in the last decade. Palm Royale is set in 1969 and centers around its protagonist, Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons. Arriving in Palm Beach, Maxine seeks to rub shoulders with the wealthiest in the town. To this end, Maxine would do anything to have membership in the town’s most exclusive resort club, Palm Royale. These are the Palm Royale cast and the characters they play.
Kristen Wiig as Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons
Leading the Palm Royale cast is Academy Award-nominated actress and comedian Kristen Wiig. Irrespective of the reservations for the show, there’s no denying Wiig was well cast. Kristen Wiig plays Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons, a social outcast who’ll do anything to secure her Palm Beach’s Palm Royale club membership. Maxine’s quest to rub shoulders with society’s ultra-wealthiest will leave viewers, if not for anything, but in admiration for her sheer determination.
Kristen Wiig is no stranger to television and movie audiences. The actress spent over a decade on NBC’s sketch comedy variety show Saturday Night Live. Wiig is also recognized for her 2011 breakout movie Bridesmaids. Kristen Wiig is also known for her Emmy-nominated performance in the 2014 comedy miniseries The Spoils of Babylon, in which she co-starred with Tobey Maguire, Will Ferrell, and Tim Robbins.
Leslie Bibb as Dinah Donohue
Dinah Donohue is one of the socialites at the Palm Royal. Her mission is to overthrow Evelyn Rollins by any means necessary. Like most of the other women in the club, Dinah Donohue wasn’t exactly welcoming of Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons. Also, like the others, Dinah holds a secret that could jeopardize her social reputation and marriage. Actress and model Leslie Bibb breathes life into the character of Dinah Donohue.
MCU movie audiences might recognize Bibb from her role as Reporter Christine Everhart in the first two installments of Iron Man. Between the films, she starred in Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009) and Law Abiding Citizen (2009). On the small screen, Leslie Bibb is known for her roles in Popular (1999–2001), American Housewife (2016–2020), and God’s Favorite Idiot (2022).
Allison Janney as Evelyn Rollins
Evelyn Rollins sits at the top in the league of Palm Royale’s wealthy housewives. On the one hand, Evelyn is looking to dethrone Norma Dellacorte (Carol Burnett) to be the Queen Bee, while on the other end, she’s hellbent on making sure Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons doesn’t get a membership in the Palm Royale. Between all of these, Evelyn is waiting for her super-rich husband, Skeet (Bruce Dern), to die so she can inherit his wealth.
As one of the older and more established actresses in the Palm Royale cast, Academy Award-winning Allison Janney plays the character of Evelyn Rollins. Janney’s award-winning performances were in I, Tonya (2017), The West Wing (1999–2006), Mom (2013–2021), and Masters of Sex (2013–2015). Allison Janney’s recent appearances in movies include Lou (2022), The People We Hate at the Wedding (2022), and The Creator (2023).
Ricky Martin as Robert Diaz
In the opulence of the Palm Royale lies waiters like Robert Diaz, whose assumed loyalty gives them undue access to the club’s socialites. However, as one with an ear to the ground, Robert Diaz knows more secrets about each club member than he lets on. Although far removed from wealth, Robert distrusts Maxine’s presence at the Palm Royale. However, over time, they become allies. The ageless Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and actor Ricky Martin plays the waiter, Robert Diaz. Martin has been a delight to watch, from his days on General Hospital (1994–1996) to portraying Antonio D’Amico in the 2018 The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
Josh Lucas as Douglas Dellacorte-Simmons
As the last name suggests, Douglas Dellacorte-Simmons is Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons’ husband. Besides his aunt Norma Dellacorte, Dougie is the last surviving Dellacorte, with hopes that she would pass down the family’s legacy and fortune to him. Like his wife, Douglas is desperate to join the high society of Palm Beach. American actor Josh Lucas joins the Palm Royale cast playing Douglas Dellacorte-Simmons. Josh Lucas has raked in impressive credits in movies and TV shows for years. Television audiences will recognize him for playing the Young John Dutton on Yellowstone from 2018 to 2022. Lucas was also part of the cast of the 2019 Ford v Ferrari and The Forever Purge (2020).
Laura Dern as Linda Shaw
Although Linda Shaw fits right into the high society of Palm Beach, she’s now more in tune with her feminist side. While she tries to get the women of Palm Royale to embrace her newfound advocacy for feminism, she begins an unlikely friendship with Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons. Academy Award-winning actress Laura Dern plays the character of Linda Shaw. Three-time Oscar-nominated actress is recognized for her performances in Rambling Rose (1991), Wild (2014), and Marriage Story (2019). The multi-Emmy-nominated actress won for her performance in the HBO black comedy series Big Little Lies.
Amber Chardae Robinson as Virginia
Another character removed from Palm Beach’s high society but who fits well in the series is Virginia. She’s a black woman in the late 1960s who is part of a group of feminist women. The character is first introduced at a book gathering organized by Linda Shaw. Texas-born actress Amber Chardae Robinson breathes life into Robinson’s character. Movie and TV audiences may remember Robinson from Stuber (2019) and/or Judas and the Black Messiah (2021).
Kaia Gerber as Mitzi
Maxine isn’t trying to impress everyone at Palm Royale. Joining the Palm Royale cast is American model and actress Kaia Gerber, who plays Mitzi. The character has a professional and close relationship with Maxine, acting as her Manicurist and close friend. Although intrigued by the high society of Palm Beach, Mitzi is more focused on pursuing her dreams of being a professional model. Although Kaia Gerber has had starring roles in American Horror Stories and American Horror Story: Double Feature (2021), Palm Royale is her first major recurring role on television.
