Discovery Channel has been on a roll lately. It’s newest series “Finding Escobar’s Millions” is truly addicting. We here at TV Overmind have been watching it from the season premiere back in October — getting sneak peek episodes each week from the Discovery team. I can tell you that tonight’s episode certainly doesn’t disappoint and will have you on the edge of your seat.
For those of you who haven’t been watching (and you should!), here is a brief catch up.
The series follows Doug Laux and Ben Smith, former CIA operations officers who served multiple tours throughout the Middle East, as they set out to find drug lord Pablo Escobar’s alleged buried masses of his estimated multi-billion-dollar fortune all over Colombia. Legends say the vast majority of it has never been found. With never-before-granted access and permission in Colombia, Ben and Doug dive deep into the country and meet up with some of the most infamous and dangerous members of Escobar’s inner circle.
One of the biggest items the guys have found to date includes a motorcycle that likely was buried with one of Pablo’s murdered sicarios. And the wild adventure continued from there as they made contact with Pablo’s most infamous sicario named “Popeye,” then made their way across the country to search Pablo’s bunker and jungle escape routes outside of Hacienda Napoles, Pablo’s once luxurious estate.
In tonight’s heart-pounding episode, the team seems to be at a dead end after discovering empty barrels in Pablo’s escape trails outside of Hacienda Napoles. But these guys will not give up — despite the many obstacles they’ve faced this season. Doug is put in contact with a fixer in Cartagena, a key smuggling route for Pablo and other narcos. While Ben leads his team to Pablo’s residence on the Rosario Islands outside of Cartagena. But these guys know when something isn’t right. Sensing a conspiracy against them, Doug takes action. But have the guys reached the end of their journey once and for all? You’ll just have to tune in tonight at 10 PM ET/PT on Discovery to find out.
