It is no secret that the world of entertainment, especially television and music is going through a major metamorphosis, especially when it comes to the manner in which entertainment is distributed to viewers and listeners. With Netflix and Hulu getting in on the television network activity, it has completely opened programming and encouraged creativity among writers and producers. Well, the world’s largest retailer has decided to throw their hat into the television network ring, and the game will never be the same. Amazon now streams television programming, and one series that is getting a great deal of hype is Tin Star, a series that Amazon picked up starring Tim Roth.
Although Amazon is new to the game of television programming, you can expect their programming to be of the highest quality to remain in line with their brand. Here are some things you should know about Tin Star.
1. The Show Sticks to the Emerging Theme of Television Shows
Television shows used to be easy to categorize, it was either action, comedy or drama – real simple. However, there is a new composition that seems to be working for series creators and writers and that is the merging of two or more categories into one presentation. In the case of Tin Star, it is a merging of at least three categorical influences into one presentation – being considered part thriller, part drama, and part dark comedy.
2. A Common Theme With New Twists
Okay, we have all seen the story backdrop in which the big city cop moves to a small town in order to provide a safer and more tranquil life for his family. We also know that things end up being anything but safe and tranquil. While all of the elements for the common theme are in place, the manner in which the elements are introduced and activated gives this show an entirely new and unpredictable feel. What this means is that the acquisition of Tin Star can be viewed by other networks as shots fired. The show is definitely high enough in “caliber” that other networks would love to have it, so the fact that Amazon picked up serves notice of added competition.
5. Amazon Will Be Sharing Distribution Duties & Responsibilities
It is important to understand that this is a British entity in that the show was created and shot in England. Amazon is simply picking up the U.S. rights to distribute the content here. The show will continue to be aired in England on the Sky Atlantic network. It is not certain how this shared distribution will impact the popularity of the show if it impacts it all. It should definitely increase revenue generation for the creators and producers of the show.
