Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, and Ed Sheeran are just a few of the artists that are planning to collaborate on an Elton John tribute album. The Killers, Miranda Lambert, and Mary J Blige will also be taking part in this revamp and restoration project that will be detailing and presenting the songs of Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin. Elton is in fact quite touched since it means that their music has managed to impress and influence a new wave of artists, something he had hoped would happen during his long and storied career, which is soon to come to an end in one aspect.
If you haven’t heard by now, Elton John will be retiring from performing on the road. He won’t be touring any longer as he wants to spend the time he has remaining to focus on his music and his family. That’s a wise move really, plus the man has had such a long and historical career that he has nothing left to prove to anyone and should be allowed a measure of peace. After so long spent entertaining so many it seems that Elton might finally be ready for a very long and extended rest in which he’s allowed to enjoy the life that he’s worked so hard for. The next generation is more than ready and willing to take up the torch that he’ll be leaving behind, so far as the touring scene goes. That they’re planning this kind of tribute to Elton John though is simply impressive since it shows a great deal of respect and reverence for someone that’s managed to help change the game throughout his career.
Even if people have an issue with the artists that are taking up the call they should realize that at this point these folks have learned what it means to respect the music of others and how to really deliver a show that’s worthy of their status. You don’t sing Elton John’s songs onstage without giving the tune the due respect it deserves, and the performers listed have learned how to do just that despite their own personal style and quirks that some folks might not care for. The respect for the two men and the music is what’s the most important right now and that’s been covered, so the rest of it is just the chance to sit back and enjoy a tribute to those that have managed to entertain the world so thoroughly for the last few decades. When it’s said like that you really have to sit back and think that Elton John and Bernie Taupin have been around and doing their thing for a very long time now and not once have their fans turned on them or in any way indicated that they’d had a change of heart about their music.
It’s inspirational really to think about all that’s been done between these two men and how far it’s led them. They’ve helped to usher in new generations of music and have long since earned their praise.
