Male Models Talk about Being Sexual Assaulted on “The View”

When male models talk about being sexually assaulted on The View it somehow still makes men look ridiculous. In the wake of so many women accusing men in Hollywood moguls and high-powered actors concerning sexual misconduct it’s now being seen that men have come forward as well. It’s not any more acceptable than it would be with women, nor is it expected that men should be any more afraid than women to speak out on the matter. As a society however the thought is that when men speak up it’s simply an attempt to regain attention from women who have been through hardships in the industry, but in this case it’s not so.

Men are often more afraid to come with such claims as women since the idea within society is that men are supposed to be stronger, more forceful, and able to withstand the kind of abuse that women go through without being as traumatized. That’s not so either. Men in fact are far more embarrassed by this simply because of the act and because they are far more prideful on the whole than women when it comes to their dignity they are expected by society to be able to deal with such matters without seeking aid. In other words, men are expected to be manly and aggressive in the face of such issues and not act in any way traumatized.

That’s not the world we live in at that moment. At this point men are just as much at risk as women it would seem and their case is no less for the simple fact that they are men. The modeling and fashion industries have been rife with accusations and misconduct as of late and at this point the truth is that no one feels safe and no one knows just which foot to stand on when it comes to dealing with people. The fault for this can’t, unfortunately, lie on the shoulders of any one person or group of people since it is such a widespread thing at this time that it has become simply untenable. But the idea that men reporting this type of abuse still make men look ridiculous in the wake of the MeToo movement and other such gatherings can fall on society and our expectations of men and women.

In this day and age women are not just the princesses and damsels that need to be saved and men are not the super-ripped heroes that can handle anything the world throws at them. This is a world in which both men and women are equally susceptible to abuse no matter that one gender is expected to be more stable. I know one very strong argument that will come of this, and that’s that back in the day a man would stand up and fight against any injustice that came his way no matter if it knocked him down and dragged his name through the dirt. Things aren’t quite that simple any longer however.
