This handy chart does indeed break down the color of every lightsaber but if you really want to know what the colors mean you’ll have to look further into the lore of the Jedi and what each crystal that powers the lightsaber means as it pertains to the order. Red is pretty simple. It’s the same color used for almost every saber wielded by a Sith or someone that is trained in the Dark side of the Force. This color is typically considered a corruption, a shifting of balance in the Force that has led to the tainting of the crystal that lies at the core of the lightsaber. The only other blade that is considered somewhat strange and can be seen in a negative light is the dreaded darksaber, which is ebon in color and is more than a match for any lightsaber as it’s been seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars series.
Other lightsaber colors have meant various things, as blue tends to signify a Jedi that is more in touch with the physical aspects of the Force. This would describe Anakin Skywalker and, for a time, Luke Skywalker. As Luke grew in strength and his knowledge of the Force expanded however he soon switched to a green lightsaber, which was once considered the color used by Jedi Consulars, who were more in touch with the spiritual side of the Force and contemplated striking the Dark side of the Force at its core. Yellow showed a decided balance between the physical and scholarly studies of a Jedi, while purple was kind of hard to define. It wasn’t seen often but thanks to Mace Windu it became famous and was used more or less to define someone that walked a fine line between the Light and the Dark side of the Force. This would make it seem awkward for some to consider that a Jedi Master would walk such a line, but Mace Windu was a fierce as well as wise Jedi and didn’t often stray from the principles of the Order.
The other colors that have been seen throughout the movies, in the books, and in the cartoons, are usually just used as a reflection of the being that is wielding the saber. There is an interesting moment in Star Wars: Rebels when Ahsoka Tano returns to confront her former master and is seen to wield dual silvery-white lightsabers. This is taken to mean that she no longer has allegiance to the Jedi but that she is still very strong in the Force. Having been so emotionally wounded when the Jedi all but turned their back on her at one point Ahsoka didn’t bother to return when it was deemed to be okay, and thus added one more point of consternation to her master, who was already slowly but inevitably sliding towards the Dark side.
The overall color scheme of the Jedi lightsaber has been largely abandoned at this point since the original canon has been deserted and left to be described as Star Wars legends, but the lightsaber is something that will not be dropped so quickly. If they did they might as well scrap the whole franchise.
