Country music legends Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have been married since 1996. They have proven themselves to be a great couple and great parents. They have three daughters, Gracie, Maggie and Audrey. Gracie, the oldest, just turned 22. Of all of their daughters, Gracie seems to have the greatest interest in music. She taught herself to play the guitar and formed an alt rock band, Tingo in college. Clearly she has a great voice as heard in a recent Instagram post by her father. Tim and Faith have always supported their daughters and encouraged them to follow their dreams. Maybe Gracie will become the next music legend in the family. 1. She has an amazing voice
Gracie McGraw was born with the genes to sing. Her parents, Country music legends, never pushed any of their three daughters into a music career. They wanted their girls to follow whatever their dreams are. However, all of the girls have proved to be good singers. Gracie is the only one who is truly interested in pursuing music either as a hobby or a career. Gracie’s Dad, Tim McGraw, recently posted on Instagram a video of the two singing together in the car on a road trip. The dad and daughter harmonized to the 1980’s ballad “What Kind of Fool Am I” originally sung by Barbara Streisand and Barry Gibb. Dad captioned the video “Dang, this girl can sing!”.
2. Her Dad’s Tim McGraw
Gracie’s dad is Tim McGraw has had a long successful career as a country music star, song writer, record producer and actor. He’s recorded 15 studio albums. He’s won many awards including 3 Grammy Awards, 11 Country Music Awards and 10 American Music Awards. He has recorded several duets with his wife of 23 years, Faith Hill. The couple have often toured together. Their 2006 “Soul 2 Soul Tour” was the highest grossing country music tour. McGraw has also become an actor. He’s starred in movies and television shows including “The Blind Side”, “Friday Night Lights” and “The Shack”.
3. Her Mom’s Faith Hill
Gracie’s mom is Faith Hill, a successful country music star, record producer and actress. Hill has sold over 40 million albums worldwide. She also recorded several songs for movie soundtracks including “Pearl Harbor”. This year Hill will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Faith has won 5 Grammy Awards, 6 American Music Awards and 15 Country Music Awards. From 2007 to 2002, her recording was featured in the introduction to NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Hill has also acted in several television shows and movies including “”Touched By an Angel”, “The Stepford Wives” and “Dixieland”. Since 2017, Hill is the executive producer of the syndicated Nashville based talk show “Pickler and Ben” with hosts Kelly Pickler and Ben Aaron.
4. She grew up in Nashville
Gracie Katherine McGraw is McGraw and Faith’s oldest daughter. She was born on May 5, 1997 and grew up in Nashville. She has two younger sisters, Maggie and Audrey. The family own several homes with their main home in Franklin, Tennessee. The girls went to school nearby and enjoyed the 750 acres of land on the estate while growing up. The family also have homes in Nashville and a vacation home on a 20 acre private island in the Bahamas.
5. She taught herself how to play the guitar
Although all of the McGraws love music and grew up around it, Gracie has always been the most interested in singing and playing the guitar. She taught herself how to play the guitar. Tim and Faith never forced a music career on any of the daughters. Instead, they encouraged each to follow whatever dream was there’s. Gracie always had a great voice. She and her friends would perform in the basement of their home, but she never let her parents known.
6. Introducing her boyfriend to her parents
When their daughters began dating, Tim and Faith were cool about it but certainly like to get to know the boy. Tim insisted that Gracie’s first boyfriend come to the house to meet him. He forgot about it and Gracie’s boyfriend found her dad making dinner for the family. He had an apron on with meat juice dripping down it and was holding a large knife when the poor boy first met him.
7. She appears on stage with her dad and on his recordings
While Tim McGraw’s brought all of his daughters on the stage with him, Gracie was the first. In a surprise appearance during one of his “Shotgun Rider Tour” in 2015, Tim brought his 18 year old daughter on stage to sing “Here Tonight” with him. Gracie is also featured on the song’s studio recording. She’s made several appearances on dad’s albums and on stage and appeared to be a natural.
8. She will graduate from New York University
Tim McGraw has written several songs in honor of his three daughters. He wrote and recorded “My Little Girl” when Gracie was born. He’d written “Humble and Kind” years before, but held off on recording it until his first daughter went to college. Gracie attended New York University.
9. She was in an alt rock band
During college Gracie McGraw started a rock band. Tingo is an all girl female alt rock band. The garage band is the furthest away from country, but Gracie’s a natural. She’s the lead singer and plays rhythm guitar. She’s joined by Gracie Johnson on bass guitar, Susie Joyce on lead guitar and Claire Joyce on the drums. The band played in several venues and recorded during breaks from school. Their songs include “Fireman”, “Underlying Sexual Desire” and “Tinted Red”.
10. What’s next for Gracie McGraw?
Now that Gracie McGraw has graduated from New York University, what’s next? We’re not sure. We haven’t heard about Tingo in a while. Chances are that she will pursue a career in music whether its a hobby or as a professional. She certainly has the talent and clearly her parents are proud of her.
