House 7.04 “Massage Therapy” Review

Oh, House, you were doing so well! Last week you had me convinced things were heading in a better direction and the show just might start to be cool again. Guess I overestimated you, huh? It’s really hard to say this, but tonight’s episode was almost painful to watch.

There were three different plots and I couldn’t make myself care for any of them. The case of the week presented a very serious mental disease — schizophrenia — so kudos for raising awareness about it, but the narrative was just so weak and I wasn’t even curious to find out what the girl really had.

On top of that, there was the ongoing Huddy relationship that seems to take over every single episode so far. House’s massage therapist just happened to be a hooker who he used to have sex with. Cuddy obviously is not okay with that and asks House to stop seeing her, but he doesn’t see any harm. He even goes as far as to hire a male hooker to give her a massage just to prove his point, which just pisses her off even more. In the end, House sees the error of his ways and they both agree they need to stop keeping each other at arm’s length and let each other in, so Cuddy takes him to her place to finally meet her daughter.

The third plot was that Chase hired a new female doctor to replace Thirteen. House is a jerk to the girl, Foreman is a jerk to the girl and they all think Chase just wants to sleep with her. He insists that that’s not the reason he hired her; he did it because she is highly qualified to be on the team. The only problem is she’s not that smart and House just loves to point that out to her. Except when she cracked the case and got it right that it was a mental illness. Then House decides to give her another shot, but she won’t take it because even she knows she’s not the brightest girl ever. Then she agrees to go on a date with Chase, which just confirms that he did just hire her to sleep with her.

The only part I kind of liked was when Chase put Foreman in his place and threw it in his face that he is not the king of the hospital and he’s not their boss so he should just stop acting like it. That was pretty neat because Foreman had been getting on my nerves for the last six seasons. So way to go, Chase.

On a positive note, next week’s ‘Unplanned Parenthood’looks promising. Let’s hope against hope it lives up to it.

Please, House, don’t disappoint me again.
