Like its name suggests, Ghosted is a sitcom with some supernatural themes. It is one of the new TV shows that will be starting up on Fox in October, meaning that it remains to be seen whether it will be able to stand the test of time or not. Whatever the case, its basic premise seems like it has promise, seeing as how it is centered around investigations of the paranormal, which can make for some rather hilarious material even in real life.
Here are five things that you need to know about Ghosted:
Has Nothing to Do with Ghosting
Based on its name, some people might suspect that Ghosted has something to do with the phenomenon called ghosting. For those who are unfamiliar with that particular phenomenon, it is when someone breaks off a personal relationship by ceasing all communication with the other person all of a sudden without offering any explanation whatsoever. With that said, Ghosted has nothing to do with ghosting in spite of its similar-sounding name.
For that Matter, Isn’t Fixated on Ghosts
For that matter, it is interesting to note that Ghosted is not fixated on ghosts, as shown by the fact that its initial episode was focused on the multi-verse instead. However, considering the basic premise of the TV show, it seems possible that its protagonists will look into ghosts at some point in the future, though one should not take this line of speculation to be absolute truth.
Odd Couple Setup
Regardless, Ghosted uses a classic odd couple setup when it comes to its protagonists. First, there is the professor who has seen his reputation sink like a stone because of his rather unusual beliefs regarding the paranormal. Second, there is the cop who is in not so good standing, who happens to be a rather skeptical sleuth. Together, the two investigate paranormal incidents at the behest of the Bureau Underground, which specializes in looking into such matters.
Marketed on Twitter
Curiously, Ghosted was marketed on Twitter, which could be a sign of further cooperation between Fox and the social media platform. To be exact, Ghosted episodes premiered on Twitter from September 21 to September 24, which predate its TV debut date of October 1. Furthermore, the episodes are being paired with Q&A sessions with the stars of the TV show, thus providing interested individuals with a chance to delve deeper into the whole thing than otherwise possible. Having said this, it should be noted that Ghosted is not the sole Fox TV show to be marketed on Twitter in this manner, which may or may not have something to do with the fact that there are a lot of social media platforms that are interested in getting the rights to show clips from the 2018 World Cup from Fox.
Stars Craig Robinson and Adam Scott
The two protagonists of Ghosted are played by Craig Robinson and Adam Scott. Robinson has shown up in a remarkable number of both movies and TV shows, but a lot of people will recognize him because of his 100+ episodes on The Office as Darryl Philbin. Meanwhile, Adam Scott has shown up in a similar range of media projects, but tends to be best-known for his roles in Parks and Recreations as well as Big Little Lies.
